A WELL OF TRUTH
TEMPTATION

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to “A WELL OF TRUTH”. The Word of God is so wonderful! Where else can one learn how to have the very best life now and a life that really steps up in the forever more. If you don’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord, I strongly suggest you not delay. The only other choice is Hell in the hereafter and yes, there is a hereafter. There is no alternative, we are all destined for Hell until we make Jesus Lord and Savior, then Heaven is our destination forever. Being a “good person” doesn’t cut it apart from God. Please do not harden your heart, Hell is unimaginably awful forever. When our eyes close in death one day and we slip out of this earthly body things will either become unimaginably awful or unimaginably wonderful. What have you chosen?
John 3:16-18 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Before we move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Thank you for sharing. Today I will be teaching briefly on the topic of temptation. As some of you know I have published a book by that title and can be found at amazon.com/books and search for Dr. David R. Wood.
This teaching will be short compared with the book and centers around the so called “Lords Prayer”.
Matthew 6:12-14 (KJV)
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Does the Lord lead us into temptation? These words are all in red meaning they were uttered by our Lord, the Master. The main meaning of this word ‘temptation’ in verse thirteen is to prove or scrutinize. Let’s take a look at a couple of other verses.
James 1:12-14 (KJV)
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
The word ‘love’ in verse twelve is the God (agape) kind of love and it is directly associated with temptation. The person who resists the temptation to sin is the person who loves (agape) God. We see clearly here that God does not temp anyone for the purpose of enticing them to do evil. For example, say the Lord brings us into a situation where we know He wants us to pay for the groceries of the person in front or behind us at the grocery store. He is offering us an opportunity to show the love of God. If we refuse, we have done evil to follow our own lust of money or perhaps a fear of man (what will they think). If we follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we have invested the love of God into another person’s life. We have sowed and shall reap in like kind. We ended up doing evil, but the Lord’s intent was for us to do good, to love Him and love our fellow man. As we are presented with temptations, from God to do good, from the devil to do evil, we are asking the Lord, our Heavenly Father to help us avoid the evil. As I finish for this week consider the following.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
There is no temptation to do evil that comes to us that we are not well equipped to overcome. Remember the following.
Revelation 3:21 (KJV)
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Lord willing, I will be back next week with a fresh Word from the Throne of God.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, then speak it over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
