THOU ART MY SON
Tuesday – June 13, 2017

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior and welcome back to our Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. God is so good, we are indeed a privileged people to have the Word of God in great detail and clarity. I have posted a picture of these United States as a reminder for us to pray for our nation, one of only two Covenant (Covenant with God) nations in the earth (the other is Israel). It may appear messy and confusing but we are indeed returning to the firm foundation of righteousness in this country. Understand that the battles we see in our government and elsewhere at their root are spiritual in nature. The people involved on one side are pawns of evil in high places (have accepted wrong ideas) and on the other side we see the arguments to restore the ways of God. I am not saying that all the players are even conscious they are working on behalf of Heaven or Hell but that does not change the reality. Our prayer is that the ideas of Heaven, of light, replace the ideas of the evil ones, of darkness, in the minds of all peoples especially those of authority. Pray for the restoration of righteousness in the judiciary. We must have men and women who know the laws of God on all the courts of this Covenant land.
Isaiah 1:26 (KJV)
26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
Once again pray for America to be that city of light on a hill, that city of righteousness, faithful to the ways of God. America is a beacon for the world. Currently many judges, politicians, and citizens are profoundly influenced by evil. Pray for the illumination of the deceptions propagated by the evil spirits assigned to America. Talk to God and decree light and Truth for all peoples. Now back to our primary text in Hebrews.
Hebrews 1:4-6 (KJV)
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
Yesterday we left off talking about angels and their relationship to God, the Son, and to us. In Hebrews 1:5 the Father explodes with the exclamation that Jesus is His Son! He makes it clear that He has never said that to an angel, never, at any time in eternity past, nor will He say it in eternity future. I have discussed that because of the obedience of Christ Jesus we are also sons of God. He is The Son of God and we are sons of God. Think about it, all the authority and power available to The Son is available to the sons, we are in Him and we are made just a little lower than Elohim. Before Jesus ascended to the right hand of Majesty on high He told us that all authority in Heaven and earth had been given to Him and He immediately assigned it to us and went to the right hand of the Father and us with Him. He also sent the Holy Spirit to dwell not only with us but in us and to overflowing with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues endues us with the same power that created all things. That same power that flowed through Jesus in His earthly ministry. Why aren’t we doing the things that He did and the greater things? Forgive me Father and lead me in the way of righteousness, the way that you led Jesus, I have ears to hear, teach me Lord.
Let’s look at Hebrews 1:5 in the Amplified translation and I think we will have a little more clarity on what the Father is saying.
Hebrews 1:5 (AMP)
5 For to which of the angels did [God] ever say, You are My Son, today I have begotten You [established You in an official Sonship relation, with kingly dignity]? And again, I will be to Him a Father, and He will be to Me a Son?
At the resurrection of Jesus, He was again established as a Son by the Father. The text makes it clear that Jesus had been a Son and now with His resurrection He was a Son again. This begs the question, when was He a Son the first time? I have pointed out many times over the years that I have been presenting this Bible Study that before the womb of the virgin Mary Jesus was not the Son of God, He was the Word.
John 1:1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Just as the One we call Father was not a father before Jesus entered the womb of the virgin Mary, He was Jehovah (the eternal, self-existent One). So, the first time that the Word became the Son of God was in the womb of the virgin Mary.
John 1:14 (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Remember that on the Cross Jesus died spiritually first being separated from God by being made sin then He gave up the ghost dying physically. At that separation from God He was no longer a Son just as when we were separated from God (before salvation) we were not children of God, we were not sons and daughters of God. Before salvation our father was the devil. So Jesus, the Word, became a Son again for the second time, at His resurrection being restored fully as God (v.8). Isn’t the Word of God just wonderful!
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
