CALAMITY WILL COME SUDDENLY

Greeting dear and precious children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog and our ongoing teachings from the wonderful Book of Isaiah. The featured picture was taken recently at a nice little restaurant in Kerrville Texas call Billy Gene’s. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with the good news, revelation for our time. Thank you for sharing. You are a vital part of this Ministry, more importantly of the Kingdom of God. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah reading out loud. Today I am presenting our Scripture text in the New Living Translation.
Isaiah 30:13-17 (NLT)
13 calamity will come upon you suddenly—like a bulging wall that bursts and falls. In an instant it will collapse and come crashing down.
14 You will be smashed like a piece of pottery—shattered so completely that there won’t be a piece big enough to carry coals from a fireplace or a little water from the well.”
15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.
16 You said, ‘No, we will get our help from Egypt. They will give us swift horses for riding into battle.’ But the only swiftness you are going to see is the swiftness of your enemies chasing you!
17 One of them will chase a thousand of you. Five of them will make all of you flee. You will be left like a lonely flagpole on a hill or a tattered banner on a distant mountaintop.”
These warnings are for all people for all time. They in the time this was spoken and written got it first hand and now many years later we have the warning to guide our path. As I pointed out from the Word yesterday, God does not want anyone to perish. God the creator of all knows what will bring flourishing and He knows what will bring perishing. Dear ones, they and we, have open book tests! Why do we choose rebellion yielding failure over obedience yielding success? Our God is compassionate and merciful holding back calamity until justice demands the judgment. No one, then or now, can every say they did not know but what they will know in the awful day of judgment is that they were warned over a protracted period of time and they chose to harden their hearts.
Dear ones please understand we are seeing this perishing, the destruction of disobedience on some scale all around us every day, perhaps in our own life. You may have a puzzled look on your face right now, hopefully only if you are a new reader, those who have been reading these teachings for a period of time should know exactly what I am talking about. Any curse in any of our lives is a reflection of willful ignorance, disobedience, or unbelief. In our text verses sixteen and seventeen we once again see the Lord warning them of turning to the arm of the flesh and not to Him. If you, or I, or they, want victories unceasing (zero defeats) in this life, we must do it His way. I suspect that most of us were not hearing the Truth from before birth and thus at salvation we already had a truckload of demonic lies in our thinking, our belief system, worldview and then many were reinforced in our early, even later, Christian life. To get a little taste read my book titled “Sacred Cows Among the Ekklesia. The average Church is full of either sacred cows or a very incomplete, timid gospel. Once again let’s consider what the Lord said through the Prophet Jeremiah and the Apostle Paul.
Jeremiah 17:5-6 (NLT)
5 This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD.
6 They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land.
Does any of that sound interesting to you?
Philippians 3:18-20 (TLB)
18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again now with tears in my eyes, there are many who walk along the Christian road who are really enemies of the cross of Christ. (Bold added)
19 Their future is eternal loss, for their god is their appetite: they are proud of what they should be ashamed of; and all they think about is this life here on earth.
20 But our homeland is in heaven, where our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is; and we are looking forward to his return from there.
Let us examine ourselves, ask the Lord to examine us and be sure we are not of this group and be fully willing to change even very dramatically.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
