CAST NOT AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE
Thursday – March 29, 2018 – Nisan 13, 5778

Glad you have returned to this wonderful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. God is so good to give us His Word, just think of the results of actually taking it seriously. I for one want to find out, what about you? Listen to Jesus.
Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Do I believe this, do you really believe this? Is this a picture of our lives or of someone else? In verse thirty (Blood of Jesus) Jesus tells us that we “shall receive an hundredfold now in this time”. Where did you last hear that preached? This is group four from the parable of the sower. Do we choose this group or have we chosen one of the other groups allowing the enemy, the world, or the Church convince us that the way of constant affliction is the cross of the believer? Awake, arise, and triumph dear saint! Now, let us read aloud our primary text from Hebrews.
Hebrews 10:34-39 (KJV)
34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
The writer of this Holy and wonderful Book commends the reader for supporting him or her even in the midst of their own struggles. Sometimes their support or their Christian walk caused them to suffer injury. However, notice the milieu (setting, background, environment, situation) in which that occurred. They were not walking in victory (still struggling with affections and lusts) which kept the door open to the enemy. We are encouraged in the midst of the storm even when we are not quite sure why we are suffering loss to persist in our confidence in the Lord, in His promises. This highlights the importance of being in association with persons who are walking in victory and can illuminate the way. Our responsibility when the way is shown is to immediately adopt the “good part” throwing away that which hinders. We have authority over all the power of the enemy in Jesus name.
Luke 10:19 (KJV)
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Do we believe it?
As we continue into Hebrews 10:36 we are told we need patience. My guess is that this does not surprise anyone reading this teaching. In the presence of maintaining our confidence, exercising our patience, and doing the will of God, we will receive the promise. There is that pesky command again to do the will of God (vs. 36). Our stuff and His stuff are not the will of God, it is mixture, and will not produce the manifestation of the promise. In the Kingdom of God all of our stuff is His stuff, and all of His stuff is our stuff. Selah. This brings us to the warning that Jesus is returning and when that time is come He will not tarry waiting for us to be right.
Habakkuk 2:3-4 (KJV)
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Brother and sister, we want to be walking in the promises of God not choosing and living out the ways of the world. When Jesus returns we don’t want to be found in defeat having never acquired or having abandoned faith. We the just which are the righteous, those in right standing, are to live by faith. This is faith in God, the Word of God, this is the only way to please God (Hebrews 11:6) in the Kingdom, there is no alternate equivalent. When we back away from His Word the Lord is not pleased. That person may end up in Heaven but will have a defeated life showing none of the glory (goodness) of God.
This tenth chapter of Hebrews ends by the author stating confidently that “we” talking of himself and the reader are not among those who have drawn back, abandoned faith, chosen the affections and lusts of the world. We are of those who believe (have faith) “to the saving of the soul”. The word “soul” here is the whole spirit man. As we finish for today let’s take one more look at the phrase “the just shall live by faith”. This is a command for the righteous to live (all that concerns us spiritually and physically) by faith in God, the faith of God which is our spiritual DNA. For anything to manifest in the physical it must first be seen in the spiritual. By faith, absent all doubt, we speak the Word of God into existence for all to see.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
