DON’T TELL US WHAT IS RIGHT

Greeting dear and precious children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog and our ongoing teachings from the wonderful Book of Isaiah. The featured picture was taken in Maine some years ago not far from a very precious aunt and uncles’ home. I’m using winter pictures this week just to remind our readers in Maine what is just ahead. I guess I am a little bit mean. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with the good news, revelation for our time. Thank you for sharing. You are a vital part of this Ministry, more importantly of the Kingdom of God. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah reading out loud. Today I am presenting our Scripture text in the New Living Translation.
Isaiah 30:9-13 (NLT)
9 that these people are stubborn rebels who refuse to pay attention to the LORD’s instructions.
10 They tell the seers, “Stop seeing visions!” They tell the prophets, “Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things.
Tell us lies.
11 Forget all this gloom. Get off your narrow path. Stop telling us about your ‘Holy One of Israel.’”
12 This is the reply of the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise what I tell you and trust instead in oppression and lies,
13 calamity will come upon you suddenly—like a bulging wall that bursts and falls. In an instant it will collapse and come crashing down.
I think it should be clear to all of us that God is speaking clearly to His people so there is no misunderstanding and they cannot come back later and say we didn’t know. Our God never changes, He was compassionate and merciful to them just as He is to us today.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
This not just a “New Testament” verse, it is for all people for all time. The Lord is not issuing extended and explicit warnings to His people in our text and now because He wants them or us to fail and perish. This has been going on since the Garden of Eden to this very day. As you read the Bible you will clearly see Israel experience cycles of obedience interspersed with disobedience. So, there is no confusion, both were their choice. We and we alone choose the path we walk. No, God is not controlling the details of our lives. We are freewill creatures, let us exercise our will (our choice) to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness forsaking all lying words of the enemy.
Have we, each of us, examined our lives, what we believe, to see if we are suborn rebels refusing the Lords’ instructions? The way this happens is that we want to do our own thing thinking it is better, which is outright delusional, or we have replaced Truth choosing the lie, like Adam and Eve. The lie may appear bright and shiny so to speak at the beginning but it leads to destruction. The Truth always leads to blessing, abundance. A mixture is really no better than choosing the lie outright. Did you notice verse ten of our text? We tend to listen to those whom we like what they say, frequently not measuring it by the Truth. Others tend to discount the Prophet (not those who prophesy as one of the nine gifts of the Spirit). The Prophet has suffered greatly in America since the 2020 elections. There is a general discernment of spirits missing in many individuals and in the Church. All of us are qualified to discern the spirits of those around us, and the Prophets judge the other Prophets. This is a whole separate teaching but hopefully it is clear many have not discerned the True from the false and some to avoid the question all together have ignored the Prophet or attempted to control the Prophets message. The consequences are again and again plainly laid out for us to see, as it was for them to see in their time. Will we ignore the Lord as they did time and time again?
Isaiah 30:12-13 (NLT)
12 This is the reply of the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise what I tell you and trust instead in oppression and lies,
13 calamity will come upon you suddenly—like a bulging wall that bursts and falls. In an instant it will collapse and come crashing down.
Lord willing, I will return tomorrow pick up right here.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
