I CALL HER RAHAB

Greeting dear and precious children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog and our ongoing teachings from the wonderful Book of Isaiah. The featured picture was taken in Maine some years ago off the back porch of my brother and sister in laws’ home. I’m using winter pictures this week just to remind our readers in Maine what is just ahead. I guess I am a little bit mean. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with the good news, revelation for our time. Thank you for sharing. You are a vital part of this Ministry, more importantly of the Kingdom of God. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah reading out loud. Today I am presenting our Scripture text in the New Living Translation.
Isaiah 30:5-9 (NLT)
5 all who trust in him will be ashamed. He will not help you.
Instead, he will disgrace you.”
6 This message came to me concerning the animals in the Negev:
The caravan moves slowly across the terrible desert to Egypt—
donkeys weighed down with riches and camels loaded with treasure—all to pay for Egypt’s protection. They travel through the wilderness, a place of lionesses and lions, a place where vipers and poisonous snakes live. All this, and Egypt will give you nothing in return.
7 Egypt’s promises are worthless! Therefore, I call her Rahab—
the Harmless Dragon.
8 Now go and write down these words. Write them in a book.
They will stand until the end of time as a witness
9 that these people are stubborn rebels who refuse to pay attention to the LORD’s instructions.
Rahab according to a Commentary was a mythical sea creature, therefore harmless. You will recall that Israel, the people of God, have turned away from God and are leaning to the arm of flesh, in this case Egypt, for protection. Before we get too puffed up with how foolish they were and how smart and full of faith we are, consider this. God is our abundant supply, correct?
Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 6:17 (KJV)
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
Why are we financing cars, etc.? The Lord tells them in the end Egypt (world system) will do them no good leaving them disgraced and ashamed. With God we will never be ashamed.
Joel 2:26-27 (KJV)
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. (Bold added)
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. (Bold added)
Romans 10:10-11 (KJV)
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. (Bold added)
Our Lord, our God, does not bring shame to us, just the opposite, but the devil and his bunch are a whole different story. As we finish for today let’s look at verses eight and nine in the Amplified Classic.
Isaiah 30:8-9 (AMPC)
8 Now, go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it in a book, that it may be as a witness for the time to come forevermore.
9 For this is a rebellious people, faithless and lying sons, children who will not hear the law and instruction of the Lord;
God is talking to His people, not the Egyptians, not the heathen, those who made Covenant with Him and now are turned from Him, from the in dissolvable Covenant.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow, let none of this describe any of us.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
