FAMILIAR SPIRITS

Greetings precious children of God, the new year is upon us and much lies ahead that will separate the sheep from the goats. There will be wonderful times of victory and great manifestations of the Spirit for many in the body of Christ for those who have been preparing and a very challenging time for those who have not. The number twenty-two (22) is the number of light. Are we walking in the light or do we just think we are walking in the light? The light is God Himself. It is also the pure Anointed Word of God, the Truth. It is not the traditions of men or the doctrines of demons. Have each of us been asking ourselves why we believe what we believe and proved it by Scripture. All must be proven by Scripture not by the Pastor, grandma or anyone else, and certainly not by the various commentaries available. Before I proceed further, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible. Thank you for sharing. If you didn’t share you might ask yourself why not. The featured picture today was taken on our game camera after a snow back in Maine in 2020. Now let’s prepare to read our primary text from the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud. It only seems awkward because we have been ashamed of the gospel except in Church, and we were not taught correctly concerning the importance of saying aloud the Words of God. Nothing, I repeat, nothing gets done until it comes out of our mouth.
Isaiah 8:19-22 (KJV)
19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.
22 And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
As you can see, we are at the terminal verses of this eighth chapter of Isaiah. For clarity let’s take a look at the 19th verse in the New Living Translation.
Isaiah 8:19 (NLT)
19 Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn’t people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?
Consulting with and acting upon the advice of the devil started in the Garden of Eden and persists to this day. We are strictly forbidden to seek after familiar spirits (demons speaking through other people or directly to us), consulting the dead just another form of asking a demon. We are to consult the Word, consult with the Lord our God. Let’s take a look at what the Lord had to say when He codified (ordered or organized) His will into various laws.
Leviticus 19:30-32 (ESV)
30 You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
31 “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.
32 “You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the LORD.
Does this apply to us today? Are we keeping the Sabbath and reverencing the sanctuary of God? Perhaps we have not gone to have our palms read etc. but have we glanced at the horoscope in the paper or computer? Are we violating the first Psalm and Jeremiah seventeen to mention two?
Psalm 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Are we trusting man and not God primarily?
Jeremiah 17:5-8 (KJV)
5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, we have put our full trust and confidence in the Lord. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
