FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – FAITH – PART SEVEN
Greetings precious saints of God, brothers and sisters in Christ and welcome back to Friday Nuggets. I am currently dealing with the Fruit of our spirit. For several weeks I have been dealing with the fruit of faith and today is part seven of that series. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means at your disposal. Thank you so much for sharing, you are important to us but more importantly to the Kingdom of God. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for this study and continue to read out loud.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
For the last few weeks, I have presented this rather lengthy Scripture from the Book of James to illuminate the fact that it is not and never has been by faith alone. All good things have been made available by God to every one of us, saint and sinner alike. We choose, we decide, then we do our part in concert with the Scripture and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. True faith is when the promise of God is the only option for our life, it is not one of many. This unwavering trust, being fully persuaded leads us to obedience in doing our part to bring the promised thing into the here and now. Now, let’s read once again about the inseparability of faith and works.
James 2:17-26 (KJV)
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
The Bible is full of people who believed the Word of God, took the appropriate action (works) and obtained the promise. And there are those who believed, had more faith in, their senses or other words than the Word of God. For example, the children of Israel were at the Jordan River but did not enter the promised land, the rest of God, due to believing other words, the evil report of ten spies. Sounds like the Garden of Eden don’t you think?
