GIFTS – PART NINETY-SEVEN
ARMOR OF GOD – PART THIRTY-NINE
FOR THIS CAUSE
Greetings precious saints of God, followers of Christ Jesus, friends, and partners of this Ministry and followers of The Three Minute Word. Please take a moment to share this Bible teaching as widely as possible. Our God is so good and He is nothing but good. As James says, there is no shadow of turning (James 1:17) in our God, the only living God. I am teaching on “Gifts”, gifts from God, with our current focus being on “The Armor of God”. The Holy Spirit led me to lay an extensive foundation for the discussion of the armor. In order to use any gift, tool, to its highest proficiency we must know what it is and under what circumstances it works optimally. All too often I see people focused on the armor of a Roman Soldier of the Apostle Paul’s time. Many go through the motions of pretending to put on the various pieces. Although for some this prophetic act may be useful it provides no protection nor is it a threat to the devils. Each part the Apostle Paul speaks of represents a certain body of knowledge in the Kingdom of God. I will speak much more on this in coming weeks. Now, let us return to our primary text on the way to the actual armor. Please read this Scripture aloud, yes, out loud. This is part of the armor.
Ephesians 5:29-33 (KJV)
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
I am sure many are eager for me to move on quickly from all this submission discussion, particularly between husbands and wives. Something that is vital to understanding this relationship between husband and wife is to never forget it is the same as Christ (husband) and the Church (wife). Submission is voluntary, not forced, whether we are talking the husband before Christ (and the wife as well before Christ) or the wife to the husband. The wife’s submission to Christ, head of the Church, is of a higher order than submission to the husband. Submission to the husband should never be crosswise the Word of God. Submission to any person or institution should never be crosswise the Word of God for that matter.
For me it seems that submission is vital to service, whether that be to the Kingdom of God, another human being, or in the marriage relationship. This is all intertwined with love, agape. The God kind of love which is activated in us at salvation has three major components. First is obedience to the Scripture, second is a selfless lifestyle or attitude, and third is observance of the Blood Covenant. Just as with Jesus, my focus is not on me, but it is on you. Love (agape) another, or submitting to another person is an act of service and is always to improve something in that person’s life. Take the very simple act of opening the door and holding it for another person. That is preferring that person over oneself, it is a service, it is submission, and it is love (agape). Before I end for this week, let me ask a question, what was God’s original intent for a man and his wife? God (Elohim) formed man from the ground and breathed of Himself into the man. So, man has a physical body of the earth and a spirit/soul of God.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Did it come as a surprise to God that it was not good for this man to be alone? Have you wondered why God didn’t just make a man and a woman from the earth right off the bat?
Genesis 2:18 (KJV)
18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Let me leave you with two thoughts, one is that immediately following verse eighteen God brought all of His creations before Adam but a suitable help meet was not found. The other thought is that back in Genesis 1:26, God had given all authority, or dominion, in the earth over to man. The bottom line is that He could not just make a help meet for Adam without Adams approval. All that God made had the seed within itself for producing another like itself.
Genesis 1:11 (KJV)
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
The seed for the woman was within Adam. Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
