HE WILL KEEP US

Greetings dear and precious friends and partners of this Ministry, and followers of The Three Minute Word blog. Remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it. We will be continuing our study of the wonderful Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. This helps us to expand our reach with the Truth and in so doing you become a partner in obeying the command from the Head of the Church. The beautiful picture today was supplied by Kathy French, a long-time follower of these teachings and voracious consumer of the Word of God. Thank you, Kathy, for sharing this picture. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text today from the Book of Isaiah. Remember, to continue to read out loud. Neither silent reading nor reading out loud that is perfunctory builds faith. Let’s get serious saints!
Isaiah 26:1-5 (KJV)
1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.
2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
As you will recall, we spent quite a lot of time last week dealing with verse three from our text. This is a verse that is often quoted especially for when people are in tight spots. I know I have used this verse in some very challenging times. The Lord will do His part but we always have a part, and our part is not always seeming easy. Now, let me point out something that is not taught and does not seem to be really popular. God does not, will not do His part until we have done our part with a whole heart.
Whose job is it to keep their mind upon the Lord? It is our responsibility; He does not do it for us. By keeping our mind on the Lord, it means to focus and meditate the Word of God. The enemy will come many times a day to get us to focus and meditate elsewhere. However, it is our responsibility to recognize that deception, stand against these demonic attacks and rebuke them in the name of Jesus, getting our mind right back on the Word of God. This brings us to the phrase “because he trusteth in thee” The Lord is only obligated to bring that perfect peace promised when we discipline our minds to stay on Him, His Word, and when we trust Him. This trust is more than a casual confession without faith, idle words, but a confession that is unwavering, being fully persuaded of the veracity of God confession. This ‘trust’ is a putting of our full confidence in Him, in His Word. Our text plainly tells us that the reason our mind is not focused, stayed on Him, on His Word, is that we do not trust Him. We trust the lie of the devil to a greater extent therefore that is where we put our focus. Although the word mediating or meditation is not used in our text, I think we can all see that is what is being talked about. As I close for today let’s give consideration to the following passage.
Joshua 1:8-9 (KJV)
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Here again, whose responsibility is it to keep the Word of God in their mouth? It is our responsibility! Whose responsibility is it to do the Word of God? So, speaking the Word of God and doing the Word of God will empower us to be prosperous and have good success. As we look at verse nine, whose responsibility is it to be strong and of a good courage, not being afraid or confused with full knowledge the Lord is with us? Even in the Old Covenant obedience to the Word brought the Power of God on the scene to accomplish whatever was needed or wanted. We must always remember that we have a part, our part is generally first, and then and only then does God do His part.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
