HERE IS MY SERVANT

Massachusetts State House
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our illuminating Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. This study is illuminating because of our Helper, our Teacher, the Holy Spirit and not because of me, it is because of Him. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are an important part of the Kingdom of God. We are also thankful for our partners in this Ministry and their role in expanding the Kingdom of God and sharing in our Grace. Now, don’t forget to be reading out loud, faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God. The featured picture today is of the State House in Massachusetts and is to remind us to pray for all in authority, not just governmental authority, all in authority. I know this is challenging for those of us who have not completely killed off our flesh.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NJB)
1 I urge then, first of all that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving should be offered for everyone,
2 for kings and others in authority, so that we may be able to live peaceful and quiet lives with all devotion and propriety.
3 To do this is right, and acceptable to God our Saviour:
4 he wants everyone to be saved and reach full knowledge of the truth.
Remember we not only pray the perfect will of God for all in authority but we obey and honor.
Titus 3:1-2 (NJB)
1 Remind them to be obedient to the officials in authority; to be ready to do good at every opportunity;
2 not to go slandering other people but to be peaceable and gentle, and always polite to people of all kinds.
Submitting to legal (not violating Gods’ moral law) authority is not an option in the eyes of God. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 42:1-4 (NJB)
1 Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have sent my spirit upon him, he will bring fair judgement to the nations.
2 He does not cry out or raise his voice, his voice is not heard in the street;
3 he does not break the crushed reed or snuff the faltering wick. Faithfully he presents fair judgement;
4 he will not grow faint, he will not be crushed until he has established fair judgement on earth, and the coasts and islands are waiting for his instruction.
Today’s text is presented from the New Jerusalem Bible (NJB). As you know I use various translations, paraphrases of Scripture to bring these teachings to us but my go to text is the KJV. I use the KJV because every word is tied back to the original language and the earliest available manuscripts. Our text is Messianic, looking into the future but talking in the present text. God is outside of time and it is all the same to Him. It must become all the same to us as well for that is who and what we are. We are eternal beings. Our corrupted physical body had a starting time and will one day be shed for a glorified (perfect, eternal, immortal, incorruptible) body. This will happen at the Resurrection of the righteous dead (saints whose physical bodies died before the Catching Away), and at the Catching Away for the righteous who remain alive in the earth. This is written by the Prophet Isaiah some 700 years before the coming, the crucifixion, and resurrection of the Messiah, the Christ.
Our text goes on to say, this Servant, the Chosen One, “will bring fair judgement to the nations”. This refers to the adjudication of Gods’ laws to be applied uniformly across all peoples. From the beginning, the Day of Sin and Death the Father promised there was a Savior coming to restore the order of God, original intent.
Genesis 3:15 (NJB)
15 I shall put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; it will bruise your head and you will strike its heel.’
First, notice the word “it” in the phrase “it will bruise”, in the Greek it reads “He will bruise” indicating the coming Savior. Yes, I know this is Old Testament and written in Hebrew but it is also written in Greek which is known as the Greek Septuagint.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
