HUMAN PRIDE BROUGHT DOWN

Greeting dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this powerful, insightful (revelation from the Lord), and empowering Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. As I have pointed out many times, neither will this study or any other do any of us any good if we do not engage with it on a personal level. This is not just an ancient lesson but a now Word for the Church at large and every one of us individually. Please take a moment and share this and every teaching as widely as possible to bring the good news (gospel) to an audience wider than we alone can reach. The featured picture today is stunning in beauty and is supplied by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 2:10-12 (KJV)
10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.
11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
Now, let’s take a look at our text in the New Living Translation to hopefully further our understanding.
Isaiah 2:10-12 (NLT)
10 Crawl into caves in the rocks. Hide in the dust from the terror of the LORD and the glory of his majesty.
11 Human pride will be brought down, and human arrogance will be humbled. Only the LORD will be exalted on that day of judgment.
12 For the LORD of Heaven’s Armies has a day of reckoning. He will punish the proud and mighty and bring down everything that is exalted.
The main focus here is pride but mixed in with pride is the lust of the flesh, and lust of the eye just as in the Garden of Eden. We get used to the blessing of God and leaning and looking to Him and start thinking it is because we are so great. We make ourselves or others (like the government) God and start leaning to our own understanding moving little by little away from the only true Source and the only Truth. God hates pride with a passion, it was the cardinal sin and played a central role in the fall of Lucifer and in the fall of man. Pride (arrogance, conceit, smugness, self-importance, vanity, and a sense of superiority) is always at the head of the list when we sin. The antonym for pride is humility. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5). I don’t know about you but I decided some time ago to go with humility and Gods’ Grace and not pride and Gods’ resistance.
Proverbs 16:18 (KJV)
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Lucifer entered into pride and fell; man entered into pride and fell. It is hard to understand the fall of Lucifer (now Satan, the devil, the dragon, etc.). Can we imagine what he had seen from his creation to the time of his fall? Imagine the arrogance (pride) of thinking he could supplant God, yet that was his intent.
Isaiah 14:12-13 (KJV)
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
You will remember that Jesus commented on seeing Lucifer fall from Heaven.
Luke 10:18 (KJV)
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Pride is an abomination (outrage, atrocity, repugnance, revulsion) to God.
Proverbs 6:16-17 (KJV)
16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
In choosing a Bishop pride is prominently noted as to be avoided and that is the reason you don’t elevate a new Christian to quickly.
1 Timothy 3:6 (KJV)
6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Pride brought condemnation to Lucifer and we do not want to fall into that same condemnation. I hope we all understand that we are all subject or tempted with pride. God hates pride.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
