Wednesday – December 27, 2023, Tevet 15, 5784
Donna and I are hopeful that you are recovered from Christmas and are gearing up for the New Year. Before I move into our Isaiah text, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth, the Good News. The end of the year is upon us and we invite you to consider this Ministry as part of your yearend giving and perhaps joining yourself to this Ministry as a regular financial partner. With our new website (link below) you can instantly donate electronically with very little effort. If you give the old-fashioned way, remember that the envelop must be post marked no later than 31 December. The difference between a friend to this ministry and a partner with this Ministry is that a partner contributes financially. Our Mission and Beliefs are all easily found on the website. As a partner we pray for you daily and you become a partaker of our Grace (Phil 1:7).
Now, let’s listen to our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 48:16-19 (HCSB)
16 Approach Me and listen to this. From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time anything existed, I was there.” And now the Lord GOD has sent me and His Spirit.
17 This is what the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you for ⌊your⌋ benefit, who leads you in the way you should go.
18 If only you had paid attention to My commands. Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
19 Your descendants would have been as ⌊countless⌋ as the sand, and the offspring of your body like its grains; their name would not be cut off or eliminated from My presence.
As we read the title of this teaching, has that thought crossed our own mind about our own life, or perhaps one of our children, or other persons in our life? Of course, it has! Is there anyone reading this that does not want verse eighteen fully evident in their lives? What’s the deal, for them, for us? We must cling with all of our might to the Word of the Lord when all else is pulling us in a different direction. Are verses 17, 18, and 19 present in our lives and on the increase? If the answer is no flee from the sin(s) that so easily beset. If we are not on the increase, somewhere we are not paying attention to His commands. This is inconvenient but it is really simple. What wonderful promises not only here but cover to cover in His Word, well worth getting on and staying on His path. Have you had the unfortunate experience and seeing a less mature Christian in sin and pointing out the Scripture that identifies the sin and the solution? But they did not obey the Word and you are a witness to their life going from bad to worse. Now, let’s proceed a little further in this chapter.
Isaiah 48:20-22 (HCSB)
20 Leave Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with a shout of joy, proclaim this, let it go out to the end of the earth; announce, “The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!”
21 They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out.
22 “There is no peace for the wicked,” says the LORD.
Have you, have I fled from Babylon? Are we more committed to the false promises of Babylon (the world, of Satan) then the Word of God? As I conclude for today, consider the following passage.
James 1:13-17 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
