Thursday – September 28, 2023, Tishrei 13, 5784
THEY WILL BE CONFOUNDED
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to another edition of my Bible teaching from the wonderful Book of Isaiah. The Lord is so good to give us a lamp unto our feet which is the Word of God. Please take a moment to share this Bible teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 45:14-17 (KJV)
14 Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
15 Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.
17 But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
God is telling His people then and now that when they make Him their God, their only God, and walk in obedience before Him the glory (stuff) of the gentiles will flow to them. From time to time in the Church we hear about the great wealth transfer coming to the Church (from the heathen). Everybody shouts hallelujah but has anyone ever told you what that would look like? A major misunderstanding, absence of teaching, is that this just kind of happens. Just because you are saved God will bring these blessings, prosperity, into one’s life. Who has seen this in real life? We see people who have been faithful at least as far as they know come to the end of life in a terrible broken-down condition. I believe this breaks the heart of God. This happens due to bad, evil teaching/preaching, a lack of study to rightly divide the Word of God, and failure to be good Bereans. God will bring us wealth producing ideas, inventions, and so on if we expect and we trust Him. Let’s jump to Isaiah 61 again for a glimpse of this.
Isaiah 61:4-6 (KJV)
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
Do we have a lesser Covenant? Does our Covenant remove all the natural benefits and add spiritual benefits, not now, but for later? No, no, and no, that is one of those fables the Apostle Peter talks about. The Old Testament saints eventually got the Spiritual benefits of salvation that we have from the moment we declare Jesus as Lord (director of our life) and Savior when Jesus rose from the dead and them with Him. Before I end our study of Isaiah for the week I will return to the nation of Israel and their ultimate future. From our main text notice the seventeenth verse in the New Living Translation.
Isaiah 45:17 (NLT)
17 But the LORD will save the people of Israel with eternal salvation. Throughout everlasting ages, they will never again be humiliated and disgraced.
Everlasting ages? Is that like until the New Heaven and the new earth or is that mean forever and ever?
Romans 11:25-29 (KJV)
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
That Deliverer out of Sion (could be interpreted as Zion the city of Jerusalem or the triumphant Church) of course is Jesus, the Messiah. God called them as a nation and according to God speaking through the Prophet Jeremiah, they will be a nation before Him forever.
Jeremiah 31:36 (KJV)
36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
The Word of the Lord will never cease and the Lord says neither will the nation of Israel.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week as we enter the month of October. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
