JESUS WENT INTO THE TEMPLE
Thursday – February 14, 2019, Adar A 9, 5779

Greetings precious brothers and sisters, children, sons, and daughters of the Lord Almighty. Our God is so good, let us rejoice and give thanks continually unto our God. Welcome back to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. As you read the Scripture faith will come, what will we do with this faith, will we take it and act upon it or will we let it slip away? If you are reading this on Facebook please “like” and “share”. The featured picture is of the Southside Church of God in San Antonio, Texas. I will be ministering there on April 7th at 10:30 a.m. Now, let us turn out attention to our primary Bible Text in the Book of John and read it aloud. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
John 7:14-18 (KJV)
14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
As we continue along with our text in this seventh chapter of John, we find that Jesus goes to the Feast of Tabernacles in the midst of the feast which is a seven-day feast. Many of you will recall that the Feast of Booths or Tabernacles is prophetic of the one thousand year or millennial reign of Christ Jesus following the Second Coming. Seven in Bible Numerology means spiritual completion or perfection. This particular time period starts with a huge battle and ends with a huge battle both at Jerusalem. This time period however brings all things to a climax to an end and next we see the new heavens and the new earth and the start of eternity future. It is very important to always be mindful that Jesus only said what the Father said and only did what He saw the Father doing. So, we can conclude that Jesus didn’t just get bored at home and think He might go to Jerusalem and stir the religious leaders up for fun. Jesus had heard from the Father. Dear ones this is a mandatory pattern for us as well. Now, it is only mandatory if one wants a life of victory. The Lord wants to be involved with us in every aspect of our lives. This does not mean we have to make a big deal of it, just ordinary conversation like you might have with your spouse of coworker about the best course of action. Having our Heavenly Father in the loop on all things will enhance the quality of our lives immeasurably.
Notice that as Jesus taught the Jews always marveled or wondered about how this could be for a man not of the tribe of Levi trained in these things from birth. Jesus had no formal degree from the leaders of the day and this was a problem for them. Given the state of the Church and the training centers for Church leaders today I consider it a distinct advantage not being exposed to the gross errors taught today and from the beginning. However, the “formally educated” leaders of our day wonder about me as they did about Jesus. When Scripture says they marveled it was not marvelous (amazing, wonderful) to them, they wondered in what seems by context to be in a negative way. Wanting someone dead does not seem to send one’s marveling in a positive direction but a negative one for sure.
As we come into verse sixteen, we see that Jesus is about to give them fits again. He tells them flat out that this is not my doctrine (alone) but of the One who sent me referring to the Father. Of course, we know that Jesus is the Word, that Jesus before and after the earthly ministry when He was a man, was co-equal God with the Father and Holy Spirit. The point I am making is that Jesus is telling them this is not my doctrine alone this is the doctrine of God, all three persons of one God. Then in verse seventeen He tells them that if they had any idea who God was and were doing His will, they would know that this doctrine Jesus spoke was the real deal. I hope you recognized that is a 1st David paraphrase. He drives the point home again that this is not something that He alone is saying, that He alone derived but is of God (triune God). He said, if you really knew God you would know that what I am saying is indeed the Truth. Let me warn you that this happens today. When God gives revelation and you speak it and the “learned” people of the day don’t recognize it as the Truth you are in good company, the company of Jesus in the day of His earthly ministry.
As I come to the end of todays teaching and we move into verse eighteen we see a direct blow to the leaders of the day. Jesus and the religious leaders of the day taught from the same manuscripts (same Bible) yet One was speaking only Truth and all the others were speaking another gospel, a gospel or Scripture twisted to maintain their control over the people. Jesus says that when we teach our own doctrine, we are seeking glory for ourselves and there is unrighteousness in us. On the other hand, the one who teaches the Word of God is free of unrighteousness. Dear brothers and sister test all things, all words, ask yourself, how do I know this is true? The Bible is a self-proving document and there will be confirmations by different writers that prove any given point or doctrine. Let us speak the pure Word of God, the cleansing water of Heaven. Just as one cannot bath and be clean with polluted natural water neither can one be clean with polluted spiritual water. Lord willing, I will pick up here tomorrow as we finish out the week in our study of John.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
