Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our study of the Bible Book of Jude. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The Lord is good. Remember, we study not just read the Word of God and we do it to renew our minds so that we are conformed to Him and not the world. This is not some religious exercise to be checked off for the day.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Remember these Scriptures from a few weeks ago?
Romans 15:4 (KJV)
4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Notice the word “learning”? And remember this one?
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Notice the word “correction” and the others that we be mature in Him and well capable of good works. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary text in Jude. Remember to be reading out loud.
Jude 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Last Saturday I left off talking about the humility of the writer of Jude, Jude, and how vital this is to our walk with the Lord. It is one thing to get to Heaven, it is quite another to serve the Kingdom of God in excellence.
1 Peter 5:5-9 (KJV)
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
We must choose to submit one to another and to those of authority, it is a part of love (agape). It is our responsibility to humble ourselves to the will of God, under the hand of God. It is equally heavy lifting to cast our cares on Him as commanded (not a suggestion) in verse seven. These cares are not the usual things of life like getting groceries and filling the car with gas and so on but those things which bring anxiety and are disrupting to our life, our thought life. Remember the command of Jesus.
Matthew 6:31-34 (KJV)
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
The word “thought” in this passage is the same as “care” in the 1st Peter passage. Part of the answer as to how to do this is found in Jesus Words above in verse thirty-three. When these anxious thoughts, disruptive thoughts come, we must replace them with thoughts of the Kingdom, what does the Scripture say about this and think on those things out loud.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week moving forward in verse one and perhaps verse two of this precious Book.
