AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

JUST AS I THOUGHT

Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God and thank you for rejoining this powerful Bible study of the Book of Isaiah. Remember, every bit of Scripture is for our learning, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Never forget that our God is nothing but good and just, however, the devil and other persons including God’s children have done bad and ugly things. We are to learn not judge from those examples, even examples around about us today.
Romans 15:4 (KJV)
4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
I am sure you noticed these verses tell us that every bit of canonized Scripture is for our learning, for our maturing, and for our equipping. How good is our God? He does not leave any who will seek after Him in the dark. Guess whose fault it is if you feel like you are in the dark? Hint, it’s not Him. Please take a moment as we move forward to study our Isaiah text to share this teaching as widely as possible. The featured picture is of Donna and me at a local Church recently. As you know, everything is bigger in Texas and as you see in the picture that includes me. Now, let’s move to our text continuing to read out loud. You have been reading out loud, right?
Isaiah 14:24-27 (NLT)
24 The LORD of Heaven’s Armies has sworn this oath: “It will all happen as I have planned. It will be as I have decided.
25 I will break the Assyrians when they are in Israel; I will trample them on my mountains. My people will no longer be their slaves nor bow down under their heavy loads.
26 I have a plan for the whole earth, a hand of judgment upon all the nations.
27 The LORD of Heaven’s Armies has spoken— who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”
As we dive back into our Isaiah text I will once again focus on verse twenty-four. By the way, the number twenty-four in Scripture is reference to the priesthood. Well, who is our High Priest? Jesus the Christ and no other! He is our King, our Lord, He is our Head, the Head of the Body of Christ, which is us! I want to take a moment to make a point and show how important study and study of not just the language but various translations of Scripture. First let’s look at verse twenty-four of our text in the King James Version.
Isaiah 14:24 (KJV)
24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
Notice the phrase “as I have thought”. Why not translate it as the New Living Translation? Let me introduce a hint, a clue, where is the Lord of Hosts as this is written? He God, the second person of the Triune co-equal God, in Heaven.
Isaiah 14:24 (YLT)
24 Sworn hath Jehovah of Hosts, saying, `As I thought–so hath it not been? And as I counselled–it standeth;
Again, here in Young’s Literal Translation we see “As I thought”. What is with this idea of thinking and not saying? Another hint. Who has authority to speak in the earth?
Isaiah 14:24 (CJB)
24 Adonai-Tzva’ot has sworn, “Just as I thought it, it will occur; just as I planned it, so it will be.
Again, here in the Complete Jewish Bible we see “Just as I thought it”. In the very beginning, at the making of man and this creation God (they) gave all dominion (authority) in the earth to mankind. All that God has accomplished in the earth has come through the mouth of a man. In the case of our text, His Prophet Isaiah. God does nothing except He tell His Prophets and they proclaim it in the earth. You and I are His prophets to one degree or another.
Amos 3:7 (KJV)
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Amos 3:7 (YLT)
7 For the Lord Jehovah doth nothing, Except He hath revealed His counsel unto His servants the prophets.
Amos 3:7 (CJB)
7 Adonai, God, does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.
God makes His thoughts known and we, the ones with authority in the earth, proclaim them. As we proclaim them in faith, He then has the authority, or permission, to cause it to come to pass. I hope this is clear for until it is we will remain beggars and not proclaimers. Begging is an anathema to God but proclaiming, decreeing things (His thoughts) causes Him great joy and that joy is our strength.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
