GIFTS – PART ONE HUNDRED-THIRTY-ONE
ARMOR OF GOD – PART SEVENTY-THREE
HELMET OF SALVATION

Greeting dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog titled “Gifts” and currently focused on the “Armor of God”. Each time I write this greeting I want to put “Good morning”. Although it appears that most of you read this blog in the mornings some are reading it later in the day. This blog literally goes around the world so some people are reading it at various times of the day and night. Please take a moment as we move forward to share this teaching, by all means possible, as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Thank you so much for sharing. God, our God, through Jesus Christ, is so very, very good.
As you know we spent a fair amount of time laying a foundation for this study of the Armor of God rather than jumping right into it. In order for us to utilize the armor of God effectively we must not only understand what it is but how to use the armor (offensive and defensive weapons) effectively but under what circumstances, spiritually, the armor functions. Making a long story short, all sin must be out of our lives, we must in unwavering faith, motivated by love (agape), and led of the Holy Spirit. All of this is possible but requires us to be focused on the Kingdom of God and His way of thinking, speaking, and doing as a lifestyle. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud. You are reading out loud, right? You know why (Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:6).
Ephesians 6:10-12 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
When we entered chapter six, children are being commanded to obey, adults and children alike are commanded to honor their father and mother. Fathers are commanded to have patience with their children. Employees are to obey their employers and not render eye service alone. Employers are to treat their employees with kindness, fairness, knowing you both have the same Master (Jesus, the Christ) in Heaven. It is all to common to hear those that confess Jesus as Lord talking about their bosses like the world bringing not only a curse upon that business but ourselves. Obeying and submission are very unpopular in the world and in the Church. We understand the world ruled by Satan but what about the Church? Rebellion is the nature of the Devil and demons. It is definitely not the nature of Christ and must disappear from the Church. It must be taught from birth in the home and in the Church. Now, let’s move on to the “helmet of salvation”.
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
As you will recall I have been emphasizing that we not view this armor so much as physical pieces of Roman armor as described by the Apostle Paul, but as spiritual realities. None of this armor is optional or to be in our consciousness now and again. We are commanded to take the helmet of salvation. First, let’s look at this word helmet and then we will look at some numerology. Helmet is a feminine noun meaning an encirclement of the head. The ’head’ in Scripture is the place of authority. Our knowledge of what is entailed in our salvation and utilizing those realities in our thoughts, in our words, by unwavering faith, and in our actions is critical. Salvation is far more than a ticket to Heaven. Our Pastor recently preached a series pointing out that salvation is the starting line not the finish line.
Now, a little Biblical numerology. The number seventeen (17) is the number of victory, and six (6) is the number of man. Ephesians is the tenth book of the New Testament. Ten is the Bible number for responsibility. We (man) have victory in the exercise of our responsibilities. In this case understanding and utilizing the helmet of salvation.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. The other thing is this, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
