LET THEM BE BURNED UP

Greetings dear and precious brothers and sisters in the Lord and welcome back to this exciting and empowering study of the Book of Isaiah. The Lord is so good dear ones. Let us take heed to every Word from the mouth of God. Let us listen carefully to the examples He has provided for us to follow and to avoid. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. Everyone can share, you just have to want to, and believe these teachings are valuable enough to benefit others. The featured picture today is of a beautiful old Church in Belgrade Maine which I have been by many times and always admire. It is to remind us to pray for the Church our brethren (and sisters).
Ephesians 6:18 (KJV)
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 26:11-13 (TLB)
11 They do not listen when you threaten; they will not look to see your upraised fist. Show them how much you love your people. Perhaps then they will be ashamed! Yes, let them be burned up by the fire reserved for your enemies.
12 Lord, grant us peace; for all we have and are has come from you.
13 O Lord our God, once we worshiped other gods; but now we worship you alone.
It seems to me that the Prophet Isaiah here is getting a little fed up with the wicked peoples of God. On the one hand he is saying perhaps they will notice and repent but then he concludes by saying “let them be burned up by the fire reserved for your enemies”. We don’t seem to think that wicked and children of God goes together however it is everywhere in Scripture. Anything that is done contrary to the will, the Word of God, is wickedness. Let’s look again at the passage from Luke I presented yesterday.
Luke 6:45-49 (KJV)
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Which man do we want to be, the good man with good things manifesting in His life or the evil (wicked) man with evil (stealing, killing, and destroying) taking place in his life? Do we want our house to stand or to fall in ruin? The answer is in verse forty-six as to how we bring forth good and have an unshakeable house. Obedience (to many an anathema), doing God’s Word in an obedient and willing heart manner is the key to all good, physical and spiritual. Let me remind us of Deuteronomy 28.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 28:14-15 (KJV)
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Which have I chosen, which have you chosen this day? Now, let’s look back at Isaiah 26:12 and Isaiah’s request for peace. This word peace is transliterated from Hebrew as shālôm meaning to be safe, well, happy, in health, in prosperity, and peace (tranquility) according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Peace does not come from our asking for it, begging for it, in our obedience to the Word of God, in faith, in love, free of doubt, led of the Holy Spirit. Isaiah concludes this verse telling the Lord that all we are and all we have came from you. Even this will not bring peace, only obedience to the Word of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
