LET’S LOCATE OUR FAITH
Monday – June 18, 2018, Tamuz 5, 5778

Greetings and welcome back to this faith building Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews, the chapter of faith, and the Faith Hall of Fame. The featured picture is of Patti and I receiving a prophetic Word from God through our friend and Prophetess Paulette Reed some years ago. Patti has gone on to Heaven and like Patti before she moved to Heaven, I remain committed to the Word of the Lord. Let’s pick up our study starting with reviewing our primary text, reading it aloud.
Hebrews 11:32-34 (KJV)
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
When I finished last week, I had asked the question that Jesus asked His disciples after calming the storm: “Where is your faith?” If Jesus was pleased with their behavior we would not have seen this question, we would have seen something like: “why didn’t you wake me up sooner?” He had told them they all were going to the other side; however, they had no faith in in His Words. He expected them to act upon His Word, calm the storm on the authority of His Word which came from the Father, and proceed to the other side. His expectations of us are no less. Are we ignoring the Word of God and crying out for Him to do it for us? I hate to be the one to break it to you brother and sister but if we do not speak the Word of God in faith and love, in and by the name of Jesus, it is not going to happen. God has given us all the tools, the instruction, and the authority, it is now ours to do. The power to accomplish the Word of God we speak is the Holy Spirit, just as it was in Jesus’ ministry, and just as it was in the creation.
Now, let us look back at our primary text and give consideration as to what we are being told from the very Throne of God. We are told that the exploits of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets was all done in faith, faith in God, the Word of God, with the faith of God. This wonderful eleventh (eleven is the number of alignment with God) chapter of Hebrews is pointing out to us over and over that all the wonderful and mighty things various people accomplished was by faith. Faith is the foundation to the realization of the hope that God has placed before us. Bible hope is an expectation or Bible promise whose fulfillment is certain by faith. The power of faith is love. Bible hope is not fraught with uncertainty as is natural hope but is a certainty to be achieved by faith. If we do it God’s way only the abundant life lies ahead. That is not to say that the devil will not through all kinds of lies, deceptions, try to distract us and cause us to doubt. No one at anytime has ever accomplished anything for the Kingdom of God, without the exercise of faith. In fact, those things that we do outside of faith in our own strength are sin.
As we move into verse thirty-three of our primary text we see that kingdoms were subdued, righteousness was restored, promises were obtained, and the mouths of lions were stopped. We know right from the creation and the placing of man in the Garden of Eden that the will of God was for His sons to dominate, subdue, the earth, even the world systems. Unfortunately, right from the Garden of Eden, the lies of Satan have been believed and acted upon (faith in reverse) and have brought terrible consequences to all peoples. We see the Patriarch’s Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob exercising dominion and having great favor with the heathen. Remember that God said; those that please God, He, God, will cause even his enemies to be a peace with him.
Proverbs 16:7 (KJV)
7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
That is not to say our enemies will be happy about it but for one reason or another they will leave us alone. If our enemies are perpetually harassing us we must ask ourselves if our ways are pleasing to the Lord. You will readily recall that the righteous Judges God gave Israel, and the righteous kings who came to power in Israel, brought prosperity and peace whereas the unrighteous brought war and captivity. So, which one sounds the best to you? Should we continue on the way that seems best to us or might we want to study the Word of God listening to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit and walk in that way? Lord willing, I will pick up here tomorrow. Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Ephesians 1:16-17 (KJV)
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
