MOSES REFUSED EGYPT
Monday – May 14, 2018, Iyar 29, 5778

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful and powerful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews focused on faith. We have been reviewing the Faith Hall of Fame. God inspired the writer of Hebrews to include certain accounts and not others, it is our duty to focus and determine what the Lord is telling us about them and how we can incorporate that knowledge into our own lives. Now, let’s take a moment and read aloud our primary text for today’s study. Remember, we are making the Word of God our own. It is to be as much a part of us as it was the Word when He uttered it through the Holy Spirit to the human author of Hebrews.
Hebrews 11:23-27 (KJV)
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
I will take a few moments and review a few things from the twenty-third verse above that is critical for us to understand and act upon. Notice that Moses’ parents were not afraid of the king’s commandment which was to put all the male children to death. The King’s fear was that the Israelites were becoming too numerous and would take his nation away from him.
Exodus 1:8-10 (AMP)
8 Now a new king arose over Egypt who did not know Joseph.
9 He said to his people, Behold, the Israelites are too many and too mighty for us [and they outnumber us both in people and in strength].
10 Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply more and, should war befall us, they join our enemies, fight against us, and escape out of the land.
In the end this nation, the most powerful nation on earth at the time, and its Pharaoh were brought to nothing in the waters of the Red Sea and remain so to this day. As we look at Exodus 1:8 we could say that a king arose that knew not Jesus. We see that all around the world and those nations are but a faint glimmer of their former selves like Great Britain, Spain, France, Portugal, Greece, Rome, and so on. These and others were great empires at one time, now they are tourist attractions. Leaders arose that knew not Jesus and would not bow to the will of God, the laws of God in Holy Scripture. This is flagrantly all about us in the United States of America, and our neighbor to the north. As I sat to write this I saw where a bill is being introduced in California to make the traditional (Bible) view of marriage illegal. Pray saints of the living God and cast these ideas away and decree a flow of the Spirit, righteousness in the land. First, we must repent of our own wickedness which includes complacency and falling for the devils’ deception that we are helplessness. He, the devil, has convinced the Church that this wickedness is part of “our cross to bear” in these end times. This deception is in fact a mark of the end times. Brother and sister, we are not here to get along and grovel in our homes and Church Houses, we are here to dominate in every pillar of society.
Now, let’s deal with the idea that Moses’ parents were not afraid. It is critical that we be on guard for any hint of fear in our lives. Sometimes what is called good sense or common sense is fear wearing a mask we believe to be acceptable. It may be acceptable to others and even sooth our mind but it is not even close to acceptable to God. The bottom line with fear is distrust of God. How does that go over with you when people don’t trust you? Just as Moses refused Egypt, a type of sin, so did his parents refuse sin, in this case, fear. The opposite of fear is love. Fear draws or brings the unwanted thing into our lives and love keeps it far from us. Fear arises due to a lack of faith and our disobedience to the Word of God multiplies and the will of Satan is accomplished in our lives. The will of Satan is to steal, kill, and destroy in our lives, he wants to take us off the battlefield, he wants to make us a horrible witness for the Kingdom and the goodness of God. I am leaving this teaching off right here for today and Lord willing I will pickup right here tomorrow. Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
