PROMISE TO ABRAHAM – PART ELEVEN
Thursday – November 30, 2017

I trust that all who follow this blog in a serious manner and are not just looking at the pictures are seeing this wonderful and meticulous process to establish The Blood Covenant that brought Jesus Christ and salvation to all peoples. The Father could not just bring Jesus into the earth because we needed a Savior. Need does not move God. God needed, yes needed, the faith, love, and authority of a man to bring Jesus into the earth and He found that in Abraham. God, our God is so good and merciful God but He never violates the authority of man in the earth or the Word. Now let’s review our primary text and then I will move quickly to our secondary text in Genesis twenty-two.
Hebrews 6:12-15 (KJV)
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
We are still focused on verse thirteen of the primary text and I have been teaching now for several days concerning God’s promise to Abraham. As we proceed with this teaching I would suggest you go back to yesterday’s teaching and review the ten elements of blood covenant especially number eight. Now let’s go back to Genesis chapter twenty-two. The number twenty-two (22) has to do with light, which is the anointed Word of God, light makes that which is hidden known.
Genesis 22:1-2 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

Look at Abraham’s response. Remember, The Blood Covenant is being tested, if Abraham or Isaac fail, falter in faith, the whole deal is off and God must find another with whom to make covenant or destroy the whole thing man included.
Genesis 22:3-5 (KJV)
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
I wonder, would you or I have jumped up the next morning to do the Word of the Lord? I would like to think so but the history of my life would tell a different story. Perhaps we would have needed to pray about and get peace. All of that is generally a way of providing cover for disobedience in our own reasoning. The Word of the Lord does not require prayer but obedience. Notice from our text that this was a three-day journey and on the third day he lifted up his eyes and saw “the place afar off”. Jesus arose on the third day and recall that Abraham trusted God to raise Isaac from the dead if need be to fulfill His promises.
Hebrews 11:17-19 (KJV)
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Looking back at the Genesis twenty-two text we see in verse four that on the third day they have arrived at the land of Moriah however it says that “Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off”. It seems that at that moment God showed Abraham what was to come at Calvary which is likely the very site where Abraham and Isaac are tried. This is likely the site of Jacob’s ladder and the site where God created man. Abraham saw the Lamb provided by God.
Genesis 22:5-8 (KJV)
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
Notice Abraham speaking by faith in verse five above. He is there to sacrifice, kill, Isaac, yet he says we are going yonder and do what the Lord has required and we are coming back. The precise age of Isaac is not known however he is likely around twenty making Abraham one hundred and twenty. Perhaps he was a little younger or older but the point is that Isaac would need to be compliant of his own volition (a willing sacrifice). Can we even imagine the kind of faith required for this?
Genesis 22:9-14 (KJV)
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
This act of obedience by Abraham and Isaac required that God be willing to offer His Son. In effect God says in verse twelve above, because you did not withhold your son I will not withhold mine. God needed a man with whom to make this New Blood Covenant imparting the authority to send Jesus and man needed this Blood Covenant to bring the Messiah (Jesus) into the earth. As the number eleven depicts the needs of God and man are now aligned.
John 1:36 (KJV)
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
By the faith (obedience is the fruit of faith) of Abraham and Isaac, the Words of the Prophets did become flesh and dwelt among us. As Scripture says He, Jesus, was Immanuel, God with us. He went to the Cross and purchased our total freedom from the Serpent, from the curse. When Jesus spilled His Precious Blood as both man and God on Calvary the full force of the New Blood Covenant was affirmed and thrust into full force.
John 19:30 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (GW)
24 The LORD will bless you and watch over you.
25 The LORD will smile on you and be kind to you.
26 The LORD will look on you with favor and give you peace.’
