PURGE THE DROSS – TAKE AWAY THE TIN

Greetings to all and welcome back to this informative and empowering Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. A reflection of our time. As we look into their time, we find lessons that will help us avoid our enemies’ deceptions. The key is always to be focused only on the Word of God and run everything through the filter of the Word of God. Not what someone told us it said but what we saw it said with our own eyes by at least two witnesses. Please take a moment to share these teachings daily as widely as possible to let others in on the very best news they will ever hear. The beautiful picture I have featured today was provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. As I was fellowshipping with the Lord this morning, He quickened me to talk about Psalm one as a preface or preamble to our study of Isaiah. I will deal with one verse per day for four days.
Psalm 1:1 (KJV)
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
How often do we read or hear Scripture and we just grab the parts we like the sound of but fail to look at the entire verse in context? All of the counsel of God is conditional as is all prophecy. In Psalm 1:1 it is tempting just grab the “Blessed is the man” and just start confessing it without examining if we qualify. Who are we hanging out with and listening to (which includes TV programs of all types)? We have to be very careful about who we are hanging around with, even confessing Christians. We must be very God inside minded to be attentive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit who is within. If He points out we are spending to much time with a person (which may be family) or not to watch a certain show, take it serious and change. Otherwise, we are not in a position for the blessing to work in our lives. As we transition to our Isaiah text, let’s read this same text in the Amplified version.
Psalm 1:1 (AMP)
1 BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
Now let’s turn our attention to our Isaiah text continuing to read out loud. If we want to build faith we will read aloud (Romans 10:17). Without faith it is impossible please God (Hebrews 11:6). If we are simply checking off a religious box just look at it. Meditating the Word of God is more then simply looking at the Word and thinking about it, it is also saying the Word. Why, that is how faith comes!
Isaiah 1:25-28 (KJV)
25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
The Lord has been informing His people through the Prophet Isaiah (and us in our time) of their darkness. No one goes from full light to full darkness all at once, it is progressive. The image the Lord gave me was that of a wedge that is used to split wood or to topple a tree. As the wedge is inserted further and further the separation becomes greater. In this case our separation from light into darkness, from the Lord to the god of this world. Little by little we descend into deception, into darkness. It all starts when the Word of God, the leadership of the Holy Spirit, is not the final authority in our lives. The main drivers are lust of the eye and the flesh, pride of life, unforgiveness, and passing judgment on others. Being saved and functioning as a family member in the Kingdom of God, as a son responsible for some part of the function of the Kingdom, requires our full attention. It is not just a Sunday morning activity or when we are with a brother/sister. Back in verse nineteen the Lord gives His people including us the very best of news.
Isaiah 1:19 (KJV)
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
If we love (agape) the Lord let us turn to Him with our full heart and ask how this applies to us and let Him teach us. In this way the dross in our lives will be purged away as well as the cheap imitations of a true fellowship with Him as sons.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
