REPENT OF WHAT? PART FIVE

Another Sunday already, greetings to all the dear saints of God, friends, and partners of The Three Minute Word blog. By the way, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, to all the Fathers who have had the privilege of having children and raising them responsibility and in the knowledge of the Lord. Welcome back to this short Sunday series titled “Repent of What?” If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to share and if you reading from another platform please share. This series was inspired when I realized that the Church was in a complete bewilderment that they might have things of which to repent. Repentance is a wonderful gift of God. Repentance is the way out of any mess. I’m talking real repentance which involves a heart change not just a few tears and good sounding words. A heart change will include agreement with God that we have sinned, it will include a change of thought on the topic and change of conversation concerning the topic. It will include asking God to forgive and cleanse us with His Blood and it will include us verbally receiving our forgiveness with thanksgiving. In our thanksgiving comes the triumph.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
In Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One [Jesus], the Anointing [Holy Spirit]) our thanksgiving causes us to triumph. How often does our thanks cause us to triumph? Always! If we are not in triumph it seems some or all of the problem may be a lack of giving thanks. Is there a place for our repentance here? Let’s take a look at this verse in a couple of different translations.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (CJB)
14 But thanks be to God, who in the Messiah constantly leads us in a triumphal procession and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of what it means to know him!
2 Corinthians 2:14 (ESV)
14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.
By the leadership of the Messiah (the Word) we are led in triumph everywhere. Our being in the Messiah, following or walking with Him, is a pleasing fragrance to the Father and to all who see us. People like to triumph, it is attractive to others, believers and unbelievers alike. The goodness of God draws people to us, then to Him, He wants a much bigger family. Notice in the Complete Jewish Bible translation the verse ends with “what it means to know him!” Triumph is what it means to know Him but triumph comes only in response to our thanksgiving. No thanks, no triumph. Could there be room for repentance here? As I move forward let’s examine another set of Scriptures. I think we are all realizing that there may be multiple opportunities for repentance in our individual lives that will change not only our personal lives, circumstances, but that of others and enlarge the Kingdom of God.
Luke 13:1-5 (KJV)
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
These examples of real events address the question of why do bad things happen to good people. In the first three verses is an awful circumstance when Pilate killed some Galileans and mingled their blood with their sacrifices. Jesus asked the question; did they suppose those killed were worse sinners than others? The clear answer is “Nay”! or No! Why wasn’t God able to protect these? We are told it was due to a lack of repentance, unrepented sin. The consequences of not repenting can be catastrophic as in this case. Have we judged ourselves? Notice Jesus asks the same question concerning those who died when the tower of Siloam fell killing eighteen. The answer was the same, “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Perhaps we could insert the Coronavirus into these two accounts. Do we have room for repentance? Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Sunday.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
