AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

RESTORE
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book, but of course they all are! God is so good to us, to illuminate our path. This is His good path! We are a rebellious people like our first father the devil. We are born with a fallen and rebellious spirit and a flesh concerned about self. Any of you who had had children know that rebellion is innate in the child. They are way better at learning the word “no” than “yes”. What about you and me? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 42:21-25 (KJV)
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.
25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
The Lord has outstretched His Hand time after time and many times it is ignored, or spurned (rejected, snubbed, repulsed, despised), not just by them but us. I know we like it better when we can think, it is all about them with no application to us.
Romans 15:4 (AMP)
4 For whatever was thus written in former days was written for our instruction, that by [our steadfast and patient] endurance and the encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to and cherish hope.
Oh no, this wasn’t written just for someone else but us! Look again at verse 22 in our text.
Isaiah 42:22 (KJV)
22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
This horrible situation is where God’s people were then and many today yet none says “Restore”. This is perplexing but let’s ask before the Lord how many times we have been here. This word translated in the KJV of the Bible as restore is the Hebrew word transliterated to English as shûb. This word is a verb meaning to turn, to return, to go back, to do again, to change, to withdraw, to bring back, to reestablish, to be returned, to bring back, to take, to restore, to recompense, to answer, to hinder according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary and The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. How would restoration occur? Repentance!
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
People commonly pray for healing but completely ignore the need for repentance. The curse is not present due to complete obedience to the Word but due to disobedience. Again, read Deuteronomy chapter 28. Make sure that what you believe is not a doctrine of demons or the tradition of men. No matter how sincere we are in believing a lie we are in reality flinging the door wide open to the curse. Test all spirits, all thoughts, and all words. Perhaps you have had the occasion to present a solution to someone that will turn a particular thing 180 degrees and they reject it in one way or another. Don’t think it is any less frustrating for the Lord except He has some 8 billion plus people He is dealing with. Having said that, I am sure the most frustrating is watching His people reject the blessing for the curse. Restoration comes only when we take a step doing our part. When we step, He will run to us like the father in the account of the prodigal son.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
