TAKE HEED AND BE QUIET

Greetings dear and precious saints of God, brothers and sisters in Christ, and the sons of God led of the Holy Spirit. Welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. I am currently working my way through the wonderful Book of Isaiah, Monday through Thursday each week. Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible. The wonderful Maine fall picture was graciously provided by our good friends Bob and Kathy French and good friends of this Ministry. Today is the 58th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Wow, I still remember exactly where I was when I first heard the awful news that an American President had been shot and killed. We are commanded to pray for all in authority.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
As an aside, remember, we are not Republican, Democrat, or independent voters but we are Christians who vote the Bible as led of the Holy Spirit. Now, lets turn our attention to our primary Bible text, continuing to read aloud, yes, out loud. You know why!
Isaiah 7:4-9 (KJV)
4 And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
5 Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,
6 Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:
7 Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
8 For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.
9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.
You will recall that the Commonwealth of Israel is now divided into the Northern Kingdom called Israel, and the Southern Kingdom called Judah. We find that Syria is confederate (allied) with Israel and have come against Judah but were unable to take Jerusalem. All due to sin, due to idol worship, forsaking the only True God, forsaking His ways.
1 Kings 11:31-33 (KJV)
31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
32 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
Let us examine, judge, ourselves, are we worshiping idols, whose ways are we walking in? Now (in our primary text) we find the Prophet Isaiah speaking to King Ahaz, King of Judea. God through the Prophet tells the King to listen and be quiet. You know, all to often we like to spout off at the mouth, commonly in fear and unbelief. God informs the King of Judah, the Southern Kingdom, that the efforts of the North Kingdom and Syria will fail. See God’s promise in verse seven.
Isaiah 7:7 (KJV)
7 Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
As we will see tomorrow Isaiah prophesies the demise of the Northern Kingdom and Syria.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
