SPIRITUAL ROOT OF THE CURSE

Greetings dear saints of God and others. Welcome to today’s teaching titled “The Curse Causeless”. I will warn you that this may not be the most popular teaching this year, but I would recommend it to all. The curse is all around us. The world and much of the Church is up to their neck in the curse. Knowledge is the key to a successful spiritual life and subsequently a successful physical life. The title of this teaching comes from the following verse.
Proverbs 26:2 (KJV)
2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
We see in this verse that the curse cannot come into our lives without a cause. The curse is all that steals, kills, and destroys in our lives. The curse originally came as the result of sin, not doing things God’s way, putting other words over Gods Words. The curse enters our lives in the very same way or by failure to invoke our Blood Covenant benefits. The curse is a spiritual perversion that brings physical destruction and death. Now, let’s look at the initial entry of the curse into the earth.
Genesis 3:17 (ESV)
17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
This original sin resulted in immediate spiritual death and later physical death. I am going to be dealing mostly with the effect of the curse on our bodies but realize it has a spiritual origin. All things of the earth (ground) are cursed and undergoing decay (degradation) and death. Our physical bodies are of the earth and therefore are subject to the curse and death. That is preceded by spiritual corruption which is in our thoughts (what we believe not what we say we believe), words, and actions. In the absence of spiritual corruption, we will have healthy aging and death.
1 Corinthians 15:26 (ESV)
26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
Why is death the last enemy to be destroyed?
Genesis 6:3 (ESV)
3 Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.”
Notice God calls us flesh, not spirit, for we are dominated by our unrenewed mind, and our physical body. Mankind then and now is severely hindered by doctrines of demons (Prime example is the Serpent and Eve), traditions of men, and sacred cows. Back to Genesis 6:3 above. Why were the days of mankind shortened? It is the same reason as why the Tree of Life was removed from mankind.
Genesis 6:5 (ESV)
5 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
This is confirmed in the following Scripture. These things are true for saint and sinner alike since the Garden to this day.
Jeremiah 17:9 (ESV)
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
Perhaps you think this is all about those saints before Calvary, well listen to the Apostle Paul talk about himself. Any intent (motivation) contrary to God, any thoughts contrary to God are wicked and evil.
Romans 7:22-25 (KJV)
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
TAKE HOME:
- The curse is not present in our lives without a cause. That cause has a spiritual root.
- Aging and death remain for all due to the wickedness of men’s hearts saint and sinner alike.
- We are to avoid self-condemnation but at the same time are we striving to walk in the spirit?
Romans 8:5-8 (KJV)
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
As the Lord wills, I will resume this study on Monday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
