THE FIRE DEVOURETH
Greetings precious peoples, redeemed peoples of God and welcome back to this illuminating and empowering (authority and power) study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Dear ones we already have unmatched authority and power from God but the question is this. Do we believe that and are we walking in any of it? As I am sure, I hope at least, knowing something and walking in it, it being a reality in our life is two very different things. Please take a moment and share these teachings to expand our reach with the good news beyond our reach alone. Thank you so much for sharing. I was aroused by the Holy Spirit starting yesterday during the Church song service and then again, this morning in prayer how it is the little things that keep us from possessing Canaan Land. It goes without saying that large things also keep us from victory but I want to focus for just a moment on little things. I mentioned that this started in the song service. It is amazing how the songs we sing frequently have unscriptural phrases. This particular one said that we were waiting for the power (of God) to come. Where is the Power of God? He, the Holy Spirit and Power is within us, all over us (baptized in the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues), and everywhere present. He was in the building before we arrived and He is there right now. This may seem like a small thing. However, if we are expecting Him to come presumably from somewhere else then we are not near as likely to be moved to allow Him to manifest through us. There is no manifestation of the Holy Spirit that either does not start with a person or is given permission by a person. Lord willing, I will pick up with this again tomorrow, now let’s shift gears to our primary Bible text. Please continue reading aloud, yes, out loud to build faith.
Isaiah 5:22-25 (KJV)
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
As you will recall the Lord has been speaking TO HIS PEOPLE NOT THE WORLD through the Prophet Isaiah about the wickedness among them and the consequences. When I say, wickedness among them, let’s not be confused. Wickedness comes from the wicked one in the form or ideas (thoughts and words), is allowed and even cultivated in our hearts, and is then expressed out of our mouths and associated actions. Listen to the Lord in another place.
Genesis 6:5 (KJV)
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Any thought that is not a God thought is evil. We must never have the idea there are evil thoughts, neither evil or Godly thoughts (neutral), and God’s thoughts. It is one or the other. One way to judge our thoughts and words would be to ask oneself, would this be acceptable in Heaven? Would we change the subject if Jesus walked up to join the discussion? I spoke about verses twenty-two and twenty-three last week which concluded the ‘woe’s’ at least for now. The Lord goes on to describe at least in part the reaping of the sowing of woe, wickedness, the curse.
Isaiah 5:24 (CJB)
24 Therefore, as fire licks up the stubble, and the chaff is consumed in the flame; so their root will rot, and their flowers scatter like dust; because they have rejected the Torah of Adonai-Tzva’ot, they have despised the word of the Holy One of Isra’el.
God is talking to His people. Being consumed by the curse is a consequence of thinking little of (despised) the Word of God. Of course, the world rejects and commonly thinks little or despises the Word of God but so do those who profess Jesus as Lord yet don’t do most of what He says. Dear ones, when will we grow weary of our rebellion and make our hearts wholly His?
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
