AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Sunday – May 16, 2021, Sivan 5, 5781
THE GREATER THINGS – PART THIRTY-EIGHT
Greetings precious brothers and sisters and welcome back to our Sunday Bible Study concerning not only the works Jesus did but the greater works. By the way, we are commanded to be doing both.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Are we doing this? Am I a believer, are you? Will this come up at the Judgment Seat of Christ? Where are you or me hearing this? When and if we hear it, are we receiving it, proving it in the Scripture, believing it, and then putting it into action?
James 2:18 (KJV)
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
If we ignore Scripture, the commands of God, do we find it easy to relegate this to other people, the leadership in the Church, or the traveling preacher. Inconveniently this Scripture says “He that believeth on me”. Believers are you and me dear saints. The works that Jesus did in His earthly ministry as an Anointed man are easily found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each and every one of us are to be doing everything Jesus did. It is a command from our Lord.
How are these things going to get done if not through us? Who has the authority in the earth? You and me or God? I sure hope you got that right.
Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The word translated as ‘power’ in verse eighteen is authority. Just as all dominion (authority) was given to mankind in the beginning (Genesis 1:26) so it was returned to those in Covenant by Jesus before His ascension. Notice the phrase in verse twenty “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you”. The word translated as ‘observe’ means to guard and keep. Would that include John 14:12? We have authority in the earth, He will not act independent of our voice, our faith, our love. That authority or dominion was given at the creation, lost partially in the fall, but fully restored and more by Christ Jesus following His Resurrection. When we take our place in faith, in love, led of the Holy Spirit He will do the works. Just like in the Ministry of Jesus. Now let’s move on and look at the greater works. We find these spelled out at least in part by Isaiah.
Isaiah 61:4-6 (KJV)
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
We, yes you and me, are to be raising up the former desolations. The devil and his crowd are not going to do it, they are the reason for the desolations. Now, let me be clear, they, the devils, could not do it without the permission of the Church. Many cities have been destroyed long ago by sin and the Church simply stood by wringing their hands, shaking their heads, and lamenting the condition of the city. We have not been salt, and light. We have not exercised our authority according to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in love releasing the blessing everywhere we go bringing back the Garden of Eden.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
