THE JESUS PROBLEM

Greetings precious people of God and welcome back to this powerful and empowering Bible Study of the Book of John. Now, let’s turn our attention to our Bible Study by reading the primary text aloud.
John 11:45-48 (KJV)
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
From our text it would seem that Martha was in faith all along but Mary was not and therefore the Jews who were unbelieving gravitated to her (Mary) and not Martha. This all changes in the life of Mary as we will see as we proceed in this wonderful Book of John. These Jews have no doubt heard Jesus before and now they are seeing the fruit of Jesus’ ministry and have decided to believe on Him. We can conclude that they have heard His message for faith does not come by seeing miracles but by hearing, hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Although Jesus was operating in the earth as a man not as God, He was an anointed man, anointed of the Holy Spirit who is God. When God (the Father) spoke to Him, He (Jesus) spoke which is exactly the way it is to be in our lives. The words which Jesus spoke were the exact words the Jews needed to hear in order to believe.
Romans 10:13-15 (KJV)
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
These Jews heard good news (gospel – Isaiah 61) and they built faith (believed) and were saved by faith. These people were just as saved as we are, by faith, out of time. This day and during His earthly ministry, Jesus was the preacher, when they heard they choose to believe. Jesus was sent of the Father; you and I are also sent of the Father as part of the body of Christ. The body of Christ is the body of Anointing in the earth, the sons of God, to expand the Kingdom, to do the things Jesus did and the greater things. We must without hesitation pick up the Mantle (Holy Spirit) Jesus dropped from Heaven and do the will of God. Just as Elisha used the Mantle of Elijah so we are to use the Mantle of Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit (remember Isaiah 45:11).
2 Kings 2:13-14 (KJV)
13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
Looking back at our primary text we find some of the Jews believed and some did not. Those who did not went to the Pharisees and told what Jesus had done. The Chief Priests and the Pharisees (deacon board) called a council. They are concerned that Jesus is doing miracles as opposed to rejoicing for people are being set free of all kinds of curses. They perceive Jesus as a threat to their power base. The religious leaders have kowtowed to the ruling Romans and have been allowed to remain in power so the Romans can rule more easily.
Daniel 11:32 (KJV)
32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
Do we know which group we want to be in, do we know which group we are in fact in? I for one and I believe you as well want to press in continually to know our God and do the exploits, the works, prepared for us from the foundation of the world. The question of what to do with Jesus has come down through time to this very day. The question is prominent in the Church and in the street. What have I done with Jesus? Is He excluded from certain places? What have you done with Jesus?

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
