TRADITIONS, LIES, and TRUTH – PART TWENTY-NINE
WHAT ABOUT THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT? PART ONE
Saturday – August 3, 2019, Av 2, 5779

Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in the Lord and welcome back to this enlightening and empowering Bible Study. This Saturday series is designed to distinguish between the traditions of men, the doctrine or lies of the demons, and the Truth from the Throne of God. As usual, if you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “like” and “share” buttons to join with us to sow seed (Word of God) and to water (cleansing Word of God) for the harvest which God will bring. God does not bring a harvest against peoples will at anytime but He does know how to reach everyone. When we release or loose Him to do so He will do it. He knew exactly what would get my attention all those years ago and I came into a position where I could receive Him as Lord and Savior. Now let’s turn out attention to the “Sermon on the Mount”.
Matthew 5:3-12 (KJV)
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
The first thing I want to deal with is the meaning of the word ‘bless’ or in this case ‘blessed’. According to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament blessed from our text means one blessed, one possessing the favor of God, that state of being marked by fullness from God. It indicates the state of the believer in Christ. Seems to me this is a wonderful place to be in Christ. Is this state of being automatic with salvation? No, it is not. It is however available to every believer and is fully acquired in the very same way as everything else in the Kingdom, by faith, in love, as led of the Holy Spirit. Let’s think a little more fully about this word ‘blessed’ and a little more about how one attains to the fulness of the Blessing (work of the Holy Spirit in our life).
Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
The word ‘blessed’ in the text above means to kneel according to the Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. So, let’s put these ideas from the Hebrew and the Greek together to get a more complete view of the full counsel of Scripture. When we kneel or submit ourselves to God fully then and only then will we have possession of the favor of God, being in a state of being marked by fullness from God. As we move to discussing the “Sermon on the Mount” directly let’s ask ourselves a question. Was the original intent of God in the creation of man or when Jesus came for the redemption of mankind focused on poverty of any kind, any hint of something less than wholeness, anything less than life as God Himself knows life? I sure hope you are not struggling with this. Our Heavenly Father wanted a family and He arranged it so that the life of His children would be no less than He Himself enjoyed. Isn’t this the idea at your house with your children?
As we look at verse three of our text let me ask a fundamental question. Is there physical or spiritual poorness in Heaven, or is the Kingdom of God on the whole designed for physical or spiritual poorness? The answer to both questions is a resounding NO! So, in Christ Jesus those who are spiritually poor (we all start spiritually poor) are empowered in submission to the Master to be poor no more. With spiritual richness will come a physical richness which was brought about by the renewing of the mind which made the spirit man very strong as well. Even the unsaved have the empowerment to possess the Kingdom of Heaven in submission to Him, it is called salvation (saved by Grace). I will, Lord willing, pick-up here next Saturday.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
