WE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO EXPRESS THE KINGDOM

Greetings and welcome back to this revealing study of the Kingdom of God. If we want to be the testimony to the world and to each other that our Heavenly Father intended, we need to hear, believe and do according to the Kingdom of God not the world. Then the Grace of God will flow in our lives. Renewing our minds to the Truths of the Bible, the Kingdom of God can be difficult. Most of us have been completely indoctrinated with the traditions of men, doctrines of demons, and sacred cows. Now, let’s turn to our primary text Matthew 6:33.
Matthew 6:32-34 (NIV)
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Once again, we find Jesus reminding us that the unsaved focus on and run after all the natural things of life, but we are not to do that. Instead, we see the command to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and these things will come to us. These natural things were created to serve us not us them. Many times, in the past we have connected earlier verses in this same chapter commonly known as the Lords’ Prayer to this command of Matthew 6:33.
Matthew 6:9-10 (KJV)
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
In verse nine we are to recognize and reverence our Father who is in Heaven knowing we are upon the earth. Then we speak, commanding the Kingdom of God to come on the earth and for His will to be done on the earth. Notice, there is no begging here for the Kingdom to come nor for His will to be done. We know it is His will; it’s right there in the Words of Jesus. This Kingdom is within us in the Holy Spirit who is within us and is righteousness, peace, and joy. Each of these is feminine in gender and singular in number. Each of us decide how much of each will be expressed in our lives. Each of these are contagious and capable of increasing and influencing others. The Holy Spirit is instrumental in the expression of each as we decide. The Kingdom is not coming from Heaven to earth but is already on earth in us in the Holy Spirit who is within us. Our responsibility is to be an expression of righteousness, peace and joy. The will of God is to be clearly seen in our lives.
Now, I want to take a moment to focus on the Biblical Numerology of Matthew 6:10. Matthew is the first Book of the New Testament and the number one is the number of unity, in this case unity with God. Six is the number of man. Ten is the number of responsibility. So, we are to say this about Matthew 6:10. It is man’s (our) responsibility in unity with God to bring righteousness, peace, and joy not only into our own life but the lives of others.
Looking back at our primary text, Matthew 6:33, would it be accurate to read it like this. But seek first righteousness, peace, and joy and His way of expressing them then all the natural things of life will be added. Dear ones we have great responsibilities in the Kingdom of God but in Him (Christ Jesus) and the indwelling Holy Spirit (all Power and all knowledge) we are well able.
TAKE HOME:
- The Kingdom of God is already in the earth in us, in the Holy Spirit.
- How much the Kingdom of God is expressed in us and through us is entirely up to us.
- It is our responsibility to seek after the full expressions of righteousness, peace, and joy His way. We will be held responsible at the Judgement Seat of Christ.
