THE KINGDOM WITH AND IN YOU

Greetings dear saints of God and others and welcome back to our exciting study of the Kingdom of God from the lips of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s go to our anchor text and then jump right into our study for today.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
We are commanded by our King and Lord to seek first the Kingdom of God and do things His way. So, what should we look to be doing immediately or continue to do? We should be seeking first the Kingdom of God and His way of doing things. The Bible is replete with the ways of God, the ways of the Kingdom of God. Scripture also abounds with what is not the ways of God. All of our lives, every last bit but be done through the filter of the Scripture and as unto the Lord first. The Lord now has more instruction for us.
Luke 17:20-21 (ESV)
20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed,
21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”
You may recall that the King James Version of the Bible translates the b portion of verse twenty-one as “the Kingdom of God is within you”. The ESV above says in the midst of you which could be among you (outside) or in the midst of our being (inside). Let’s look at the Amplified Translation of the Bible.
Luke 17:20-21 (AMP)
20 Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does not come with signs to be observed or with visible display,
21 Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you].
Here we see that the Amplified adds the amplification “[in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you]”. In our hearts has to do with our soul which is where our mind, will, emotions, intellect, and deepest thoughts. In short it has to do with knowledge. The Holy Spirit is everywhere present now and then. However, the people to whom He was talking that day did not have the Holy Spirit within for He had not gone to the Cross, salvation was still in the future. We of course have the Holy Spirit within, and He was talking as much to us that day as to them.
Now, what do we know. The Kingdom of God is not a geographical physical place like France, Mexico, or America but is everywhere among us and in us. Two things are in play. First, we must have knowledge, not just information, but revelation understanding. The One among us and within us is the Holy Spirit, our Teacher and Helper, the Power of God. In the Holy Spirit and in our knowledge is righteousness, peace and joy. Once we have revelation knowledge we order our thoughts properly to His righteousness, to all that Scripture says peace is, and joy as well. We confess these things with our mouth, believing in our heart, and we act accordingly.
TAKE HOME:
- The Kingdom of God is not a geographic location, at least not yet.
- The Kingdom of God is within the Holy Spirit and He lives in us teaching us and helping us to live a Kingdom life.
- This Kingdom is maintaining right standing with the Father by doing things His way, walking in all the facets of Bible peace, and walking in joy.
