Greetings dear friend and brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, the Lord is so good dear ones. Welcome back to this engaging study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Today I am moving further into the 47th chapter of Isaiah using the NIV version of Scripture. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. If you are not sharing ask yourself and ask the Lord, why not. The featured picture today is of a beautiful gold finch out back of our home in Maine.
Now, let’s move ahead into our Bible Study of the wonderful Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 47:3-7 (NIV)
3 Your nakedness will be exposed and your shame uncovered. I will take vengeance; I will spare no one.”
4 Our Redeemer–the LORD Almighty is his name– is the Holy One of Israel.
5 “Sit in silence, go into darkness, Daughter of the Babylonians; no more will you be called queen of kingdoms.
6 I was angry with my people and desecrated my inheritance; I gave them into your hand, and you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged you laid a very heavy yoke.
7 You said, ‘I will continue forever– the eternal queen!’ But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen.
I spoke briefly yesterday about the judgment of Babylon, both the physical city as part of an empire that ruled for centuries and as representative of the demonic world system. As we consider this judgment of Babylon both the physical city and the world system we are struck by the patience, the longsuffering of God. Perhaps you have wondered many times why but on the other hand I am so thankful for His mercy, His patience, I have had significant periods of darkness and stupidity in my life and needed both. Before we move forward let’s look at another 400+ year period of delayed judgment.
Genesis 15:7 (KJV)
7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
This is in the midst of God establishing a Blood Covenant to form the legal foundation upon which He can bring the Messiah. Abraham, first, gets a Divine Deed to the land but is told they (his seed) cannot occupy it quite yet.
Genesis 15:13-16 (KJV)
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
As we know in just a few years Jacob’s family would go into Egypt, the fledgling Jewish race saved by the prepositioning of Joseph as the second in command of Egypt during a famine. It would be over 400 years before they, the Jews, would occupy the land under the command of Joshua. The Lord is long-suffering with saint and sinner alike and of that I am so thankful. Perhaps you are as well.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, the Lord is really good.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
