THE RIGHT HAND OF MAJESTY
Monday – December 25, 2017

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL! As you may be aware there is lots of opinion about the celebration of Christmas even among Christians. Just remember that this is a day when we Christians and mankind in general celebrate the birth of Christ. Let’s put aside all the foolish arguments about whether December 25th is the actual day Christ was born or not.
Relax, celebrate, and give thanks that God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son that none should perish and all could have the opportunity for salvation, restoration to the family of God. First and foremost, do not make Santa Claus your god or that of your children. If your children are looking for Santa Claus to bring the desires of their heart he is their god and you have spoken that lie making it a false god in their hearts. Our lie teaches our children to lie and that lying can be fun. Lying is never okay. We and they must understand that all good and perfect gifts come from God, the God of Heaven not some fictional character. Those gifts will generally come through other people, like our Christmas gifts to our children, and the Father’s gift of the Son (Jesus) to all peoples came through Mary.
James 1:17 (KJV)
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
If you have a tree enjoy it and enjoy any gifts that are placed around it. We do not worship the tree or some god other than the Almighty God. Our beautiful Christmas Trees are not representative of the “green” trees of old where idols were worshipped. The gifts are tokens of the love we have for those who are to receive those gifts, the gifts are not the focus, the person to whom the gift is going is our focus, as we demonstrate our thankfulness to God for that person. Most of all, today, really like all days, we are to be thankful beyond our human language capacity to God for His love to us all. Remember our Father is a real gift giver. The first and most critical gift is the gift of eternal life when we accept Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord. Jesus has made an eternal commitment to us and our gift back to God is our eternal commitment to Him. Now let’s turn our attention back to our wonderful Bible Study in the Book of Hebrews. No, we do not take a day off from God or His Word. Do you think He has ever taken a day off concerning us?
Hebrews 8:1-5 (KJV)
1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
Isn’t this Book just wonderful!? As you know the Book of Hebrews is the nineteenth Book of the New Testament and nineteen is the number of faith. Eight (chapter) is the number of new beginnings and thirteen (number of verses) is the number of rebellion and depravity. By faith we get a new beginning from our rebellion and depravity because of the Son, who is our unique and eternal High Priest. Wow, God is so good, and to know this on Christmas, the day set aside to celebrate (mas) Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One, and the Anointing. O God is so good! As we look at Hebrews 8:1 is seems like our author (God is the author behind the author) is going to more or less wind things up concerning this rather lengthy discussion of Jesus our High Priest. (The Word of God did not come into being by human effort alone as some have supposed.) Let’s take a look at the first verse in a different translation or the Bible. Perhaps we have been wondering “what is the point?”
Hebrews 8:1 (HCSB)
1 Now the main point of what is being said is this: We have this kind of high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
No High Priest before Jesus whether we are talking Melchisedec or the Levitical Priesthood ever sat down in the presence of God never mind at His right hand. This High Priest was not just another man placed in that position but this was God Himself become our High Priest (among many other things). This was not a man who could die, a man that needed to offer sacrifices year to year first for his own sin and that of the people. This is an eternal man who is without sin but was made sin with our sin and the one sacrifice cleansed Him and us forever. You may be thinking, “man this is Christmas, we are celebrating life, what is with the talk about death?” The very purpose of Jesus’ life was to die for all of mankind. Look at the following passage especially verse twenty-four (24 = The Priesthood).
John 12:23-26 (KJV)
23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
Hallelujah, praise the Lord most vehement! Jesus came into the earth with an outer shell just like us. We call it a body, for wheat as in the preceding passage the outer shell called the hull is shed and the life within produces abundantly. Jesus sowed His body and that sowing has brought forth much fruit, you and I are among that harvest of fruit.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL and HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (GW)
24 The LORD will bless you and watch over you.
25 The LORD will smile on you and be kind to you.
26 The LORD will look on you with favor and give you peace.’
