BLIND WATCHMEN
Video link: https://youtu.be/lOPPCqnlNWA
Greetings dear and precious saints, the redeemed of the Lord and welcome back to our study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this and every teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today and read it out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 56:9-12 (NIV)
9 Come, all you beasts of the field, come and devour, all you beasts of the forest!
10 Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.
11 They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, each seeks his own gain.
12 “Come,” each one cries, “let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better.”
As we read and think about today’s text, we see a terrible situation. What about the watchmen today? Are we seeing the Ministry of Jesus, or the Book of Acts, in our Church and personal lives or something else? Are we drawing near with our lips but our hearts are elsewhere? Are we following the traditions of men and witnessing a powerless Church? Why aren’t the alarm bells of the watchmen just absolutely deafening? All persons in the body of Christ are spiritually equipped to discern the times. This is done by being a good Berean, studying the Word of God, and being attentive to the Holy Spirit within. Beyond that, however, are the watchmen of every generation ordained throughout the body of Christ. These watchmen (male and female) are those ordained to the five-fold ministry of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, or Teacher. In ancient times these watchmen were stationed on the walls of the city and were attentive to what was occurring in the city (Church) and what was going on outside the city (Church). As I was looking at our text today the Lord brought the following account to my mind.
Matthew 16:2-3 (KJV)
2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Dear ones, are we adrift, are we off the ancient path?
Jeremiah 6:16-19 (ESV)
16 Thus says the LORD: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
17 I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Pay attention to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not pay attention.’
18 Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, what will happen to them.
19 Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people, the fruit of their devices, because they have not paid attention to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.
Dear ones there are true and false watchmen among us and we must discern the times, the Truth of their messages. Remember, just because something does not sound familiar or it is not what you have been hearing does not make it false. We just might be hearing the Truth for the very first time. Remember the following verses and reflect upon them.
Mark 16:19-20 (KJV)
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
John 3:34 (KJV)
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
Could it be that the absence of the Power of God in our lives and Churches is because we are not speaking the “words of God”?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, the Lord loves you and He cannot lie.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
