Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God, brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus the only way of Salvation. Welcome back to our empowering Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. You are a blessing to us and the Kingdom of God. Now, let’s turn our attention to the first topic which is a memorial of 9/11.
Twenty-three years ago today, some of Satan’s people attacked this Covenant nation known as America, a Christian nation. We held open the door to Satan by our descent into debauchery (wickedness, corruption). I am not talking about the heathen; I am talking about the Church. On that awful day some 2996 people died. As terrible as that number is, it is a miracle, it was the mercy of God, that many more did not die. We should never be so foolish as to think this was the first terrorist attack on this nation, nor will it be the last. Satan and his people have been attacking America from before there was a United States of America. Research the Barbary Wars. Satan is the original terrorist and his activities against mankind started in the Garden of Eden continuing to this day, and will continue to the last day. How much success Satan enjoys quite simply depends upon the Church. We, the body of Christ, the Church, have not taken the spiritual steps necessary to stop the spiritual acts of Satan which led to physical events. Nothing happens in the natural, material world, that does not have a spiritual origin. Nothing!
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Is our land healed? The abundantly obvious answer is a resounding NO! Why? Look children of God, this is not rocket-science. Read the verse. I hear people in many places talking about praying for our nation but that alone is not the pivotal action required for the healing or our land. What about humility? What about turning from our wicked ways?
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the wonderful Book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 58:5-7 (NASB)
5 “Is it a fast like this which I choose, a day for a man to humble himself? Is it for bowing one’s head like a reed And for spreading out sackcloth and ashes as a bed? Will you call this a fast, even an acceptable day to the LORD?
6 “Is this not the fast which I choose, To loosen the bonds of wickedness, To undo the bands of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free And break every yoke?
7 “Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
As we pick up this study regarding fasting moving into verse six, we find the Lord describing the fast that He has chosen. It has everything to do with loving people. The verses above talk about a spiritual aspect and a physical aspect. Verse six above has to do with spiritual ministry to people and verse seven deals with the physical needs of people. In order to do these things one must set aside time and resources that could have been for their own use but now for others.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
