THE WAY OF PEACE
Video link: https://youtu.be/xvVDBOLKSE4
Greetings dear and precious saints of God. Even if you are not a saint of God you are still precious to Him and therefore to us. He paid the highest price ever paid for each of us to have the option of redemption. Dear ones, it is not about Church, although that is very important, it is about a personal relationship with the Redeemer, Christ Jesus, His Father, and His Holy Spirit. The featured picture today is of an old but precious Church in Indiana. The purpose for the image is to remind us all to intercede for our brothers and sister around us, our Church, and the Church at large. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text today in the wonderful Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 59:7-10 (NASB)
7 Their feet run to evil, And they hasten to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, Devastation and destruction are in their highways.
8 They do not know the way of peace, And there is no justice in their tracks; They have made their paths crooked, Whoever treads on them does not know peace.
9 Therefore justice is far from us, And righteousness does not overtake us; We hope for light, but behold, darkness, For brightness, but we walk in gloom.
10 We grope along the wall like blind men, We grope like those who have no eyes; We stumble at midday as in the twilight, Among those who are vigorous we are like dead men.
Today we will venture into verse eight of our primary text and focus in on “the way of peace”. There is no real peace apart from God, apart from the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus. The world offers a facsimile of peace but it is a really poor substitute. So long as we remain single minded in Him and not double-minded our peace is rock solid in any circumstance. The following passage has to do with the coming of real peace. This passage is talking about the one we call John the Baptist the one who came to prepare the way of Jesus.
Luke 1:76-80 (NASB)
76 “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go on BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS;
77 To give to His people the knowledge of salvation By the forgiveness of their sins,
78 Because of the tender mercy of our God, With which the Sunrise from on high will visit us,
79 TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
80 And the child continued to grow and to become strong in spirit, and he lived in the deserts until the day of his public appearance to Israel.
You will remember that John the Baptist (not the first Baptist) baptized people in water for the forgiveness of sin, cleansing from sin. The water is symbolic of the Word, the Word is Jesus, the real forgiveness of sin is in Christ Jesus. John the Baptist announced to the people that Salvation was on the way! There was about to be Light, the Son Himself would be the Sunrise. In the Light we would be guided “into the way of peace”. Remember this very commonly recited or read Scripture?
Isaiah 9:6-7 (NASB)
6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.
Our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ is the Prince of Peace. As we end for today, let’s focus on and meditate upon verse seven of this Isaiah nine text. The government of God is the Kingdom of God and the Laws associated with it, and this Kingdom will not be static at anytime now nor in eternity. And notice that peace is not a short-term deal but an eternal deal. And who guarantees this wonderful thing? “The LORD of hosts will accomplish this” Who is none other than the Lord Jesus Himself. Look, I want to make something very clear, all of this is not just for the sweet bye and bye but right now. Lay hold and become fully persuaded in Jesus name!
Lord willing, I will pick up right here Thursday, tomorrow is a Feast of the Lord. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
