THEIR FEET RUN TO EVIL

Greetings dear and precious saints of God. Even if you are not a saint of God you are still precious to Him and therefore to us. He paid the highest price ever paid for each of us to have the option of redemption. Dear ones, it is not about Church, although that is very important, it is about a personal relationship with the Redeemer, Christ Jesus, His Father, and His Holy Spirit. The featured picture today is of an old but beautiful Church in Illinois. The purpose for the image is to remind us all to intercede for our brothers and sister around us, our Church, and the Church at large. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text today in the wonderful Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 59:7-10 (NASB)
7 Their feet run to evil, And they hasten to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, Devastation and destruction are in their highways.
8 They do not know the way of peace, And there is no justice in their tracks; They have made their paths crooked, Whoever treads on them does not know peace.
9 Therefore justice is far from us, And righteousness does not overtake us; We hope for light, but behold, darkness, For brightness, but we walk in gloom.
10 We grope along the wall like blind men, We grope like those who have no eyes; We stumble at midday as in the twilight, Among those who are vigorous we are like dead men.
As we read verse seven, we see our own America, we see how the heathen and the lassitude of the Church have transformed our culture from a degree of righteousness over the last 100 plus years to great evil. It is Gods’ people and always has been Gods’ people who are responsible for the culture. The heathen are blind groping in the darkness imaging themselves as their own gods.
Romans 1:21-23 (NASB)
21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Notice verse twenty-two. We are the only hope of the heathen, now with Jesus in Heaven, we are the light of the world. This is a repeating situation with mankind due to our fallen nature since the sin of Adam and Eve. Look at what God had to say about the time of Noah when the people of the earth sank so low God could no longer legally withhold justice.
Genesis 6:5-6 (NASB)
5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
This time of Noah is like our day, and similar to the day being described in our primary Bible text. Have you ever seen such a time when people would march, even riot, for the right to kill children in the womb? There are no adequate words to describe this kind of evil. Before the Christians reading this start to rise up in pride, remember that anything that is contrary to the Word of God is evil, it is wickedness. As we look at verse seven and in perhaps a pious fashion think, certainly none of this applies to me consider the final phrase of the verse, “devastation and destruction are in their highway”. Consider the Words of Jesus then let each of us examine our own lives. The first part of the seventh verse of our text is what has allowed the thief access.
John 10:10 (NASB)
10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
