THOSE WHO AFFLICTED YOU

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ and any others seeing what this is all about. Welcome to our study of the precious Bible Book of Isaiah. The featured picture is a Church in South Dakota. The purpose of a Church picture is to remind us all of the command from our Lord to continually intercede for our brothers and sisters near and far. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 60:14-17 (NKJV)
14 Also the sons of those who afflicted you Shall come bowing to you, And all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at the soles of your feet; And they shall call you The City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15 “Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, So that no one went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, A joy of many generations.
16 You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles, And milk the breast of kings; You shall know that I, the LORD, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
17 “Instead of bronze I will bring gold, Instead of iron I will bring silver, Instead of wood, bronze, And instead of stones, iron. I will also make your officers peace, And your magistrates righteousness.
As we enter into this passage, we see not only Messianic talk but it seems to me talk of the future of Israel. Verse fourteen is clearly referring to the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. However, as we enter into verse fifteen it does not take much imagination to see that the Lord is speaking through His Prophet of the apple of His eye, Israel. As we look at these verses, we can see that this is already happening to Israel in a small measure but will be exceedingly greater in the ages to come. Israel will be a nation before God forever.
Jeremiah 31:35-37 (NKJV)
35 Thus says the LORD, Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The LORD of hosts is His name):
36 “If those ordinances depart From before Me, says the LORD, Then the seed of Israel shall also cease From being a nation before Me forever.”
37 Thus says the LORD: “If heaven above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done, says the LORD.
Let’s move forward into verse eighteen that we are clearly in the Millennial Reign and then into verse nineteen, we are in the new heaven and the new earth.
Isaiah 60:18-20 (NKJV)
18 Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, Neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; But you shall call your walls Salvation, And your gates Praise.
19 “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory.
20 Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the LORD will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.
The new heaven and the new earth!
Revelation 21:1-4 (KJV)
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
As you read through this passage, look back at Isaiah 60:11 referring to the gates never being closed. For you and me there was the aspect of our continually receiving, but for the new heaven and the new earth there are no enemies to keep out.
Revelation 21:22-26 (NKJV)
22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).
26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
