Greetings dear children of God and welcome back to this enlightening and empowering study of the Bible Book of Haggai. It is enlightening if we have eyes to see and ears to hear. Are we reading today to understand and do? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading out loud.
Haggai 2:5-9 (KJV)
5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
Last Saturday I left off with verse five of our primary Bible text talking about Covenant and that the fulfilment of Covenants is dependent upon at least two persons. One person is God and the other is one in Covenant with Him. Works the same way in the natural. You make a covenant (contract) with a dealership for a new car, the car is yours to possess and use so long as you make payments. If you don’t make payments the dealership will cease to honor your possession and use of the car. As I have mentioned many times before, read Deuteronomy chapter 28 very carefully, thoughtfully. Finally in that verse the Lord of Hosts tells them to fear not. Fear is more faith in the promise of the demons, the world systems, than the promises of God.
It seems that verses six through nine should be taken as a whole. It seems that everything will be shaken excepting the third Heaven, the dwelling place of God. Not only will all be shaken but the desire (desirable, pleasant things) including their wealth will come into the House of God. The House of God will manifest the goodness of God, the glory of God. This section ends with Him declaring that that glory or manifest goodness of God in the latter house and the peace of that house will exceed all that came before.
Now, let’s see if we can shed some light on this passage. It does not seem like the Temple they are building will exceed that of Solomon nor will the upgrades of Herod bring it to the level of the former and certainly peace will not be pervasive. The next great shaking referred to is perhaps what occurs at the time of the Second Coming, the battle of Armageddon, and the putting of the earthly kingdom of God in place. Let’s consider an alternative and perhaps parallel fulfilment of this Scripture. A great shaking came with the First Coming of Christ and the establishment of the Church. The second part concerning the flow of wealth into the Church, hence the individuals comprising the Church, has not occurred in fulness yet.
The flow of wealth to the children of God will occur before this is all wound up. I have to give the devil credit for the success of his deception that poverty or just enough is the will of God. Other than the God in control hoax there is nothing more destructive to the body of Christ than the anti-prosperity deception. More, next Saturday.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here with our study of Haggai next Saturday. The Lord is good, He is not the source of our problems, and He cannot lie!
