DON’T BE A FOOT DRAGGER

Greetings dear and precious saints of God, coheirs with Christ Jesus, kings and priests in the Kingdom of God forever and ever. Welcome back to this instructive and empowering Bible Study of the Book of Haggai. Now, let’s turn to our primary Bible text reading out loud.
Haggai 2:14-17 (KJV)
14 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:
16 Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.
17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.
The Lord through His Prophet Haggai has just spoken the Word of the Lord to His people saying they are mixing the holy with the unholy and therefore it is all unholy including them. Does this sound at all like the Garden of Eden?
Genesis 2:17 (KJV)
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
What about us? Are we mixing together our knowledge of good and evil thinking (in deception) that somehow it is all right? Back to our primary text and perhaps some clarity from the Message Bible.
Haggai 2:15-17 (MSG)
15 “ ‘Think back. Before you set out to lay the first foundation stones for the rebuilding of my Temple,
16 how did it go with you? Isn’t it true that your foot-dragging, halfhearted efforts at rebuilding the Temple of GOD were reflected in a sluggish, halfway return on your crops—half the grain you were used to getting, half the wine?
17 I hit you with drought and blight and hail. Everything you were doing got hit. But it didn’t seem to faze you. You continued to ignore me.’ GOD’s Decree.
Does this describe anyone’s life reading this teaching? Don’t put up your hand, repent and diligently seek after and do all the will of God. It starts in our thought life, it must be renewed, big time. The Lord wants this day for them and for us to be a day of change from the world cursed system to the Kingdom of God system of overflowing abundance. As we continue with our text in Haggai, are these verses just going to happen automatically with no action on their part?
Haggai 2:18-19 (MSG)
18 “ ‘Now think ahead from this same date—this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Think ahead from when the Temple rebuilding was launched.
19 Has anything in your fields—vine, fig tree, pomegranate, olive tree—failed to flourish? From now on you can count on a blessing.’ ”
Lord willing, I will pick up right here with our study of Haggai next Saturday. The Lord is good, He is not the source of our problems, and He cannot lie!
