Greetings precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in Christ, and welcome back to this edifying (enlightening) and exhorting (encouraging) study of the Book of 1st John. The Lord is so good to give a Book of His thoughts and Words (Gods’ Policy and Procedure Manual) which teach us the way of salvation. Not just how to be saved but partake in the fullness of salvation. Salvation is way more than eternal life and life as God knows life, but life as God knows life right here in the earth. That’s Bible dear ones! Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, listening to understand and do, you know why, this is very important.
1 John 3:3-6 (KJV)
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
I will pick up with verse five of our primary Bible text today. Thank you, Jesus, for dealing with, obliterating the sin problem, a fatal problem. A sinless man sinned and it took a sinless man to pay that debt. Yes, Adam was a man, and yes, Jesus in His earthly ministry was a man. He was the last Adam.
1 Corinthians 15:45 (KJV)
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Jesus laid aside, before entering the womb of Mary, all that made Him God (big G).
Philippians 2:7-9 (KJV)
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Jesus was fully God before the womb of Mary, was fully human until the Resurrection, and is now fully God and fully man. He had to learn and live by faith, walking in love, just as we do. An interesting issue is that not only did He lay aside the attributes that made Him God (omnipresence, omnipotence, omniscience) but the knowledge of eternity past. He discovered it all in the Book and in prayer just as we are to do.
Hebrews 4:14-16 (KJV)
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
He did not sin and we are fully capable, He has equipped us, of not sinning.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
