WHAT ABOUT TONGUES? – PART FIVE

Greetings dear children of Father God and welcome back to our study concerning speaking in tongues. Today and the next few weeks (Sundays) I will be teaching out of 1^st Corinthians chapters twelve and fourteen. The Lord through the Apostle Paul spent a lot of Bible space on this topic of speaking in tongues. It was being abused then and continues to this day. Again, I am not teaching against speaking in tongues for it is very important part of our spiritual empowerments. The Apostle Paul addresses the abuses, and so will I as we examine the Scriptures, not our emotions, and not our denominational doctrines, or encouragement of peers or leadership. Before I plunge into 1^st Corinthians let’s look at one other Scripture.

Romans 8:26-27 (KJV)

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

This right here is a prime use of tongues as a prayer language. There are many times we don’t have a clue how to pray for a certain person or situation but we have the option of praying the perfect will of God by praying in tongues. When we do, we are praying mysteries but they don’t need to remain mysteries.

1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

We can even receive of the Spirit the interpretation of those prayers.

1 Corinthians 14:13 (KJV)

13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

There are many documented cases of great inventions coming to mankind in this fashion when men of God prayed in tongues and then received the interpretation of the prayer, the unraveling of mysteries. Two examples are George Washington Carver with over 300 inventions from peanuts, and William H. Pickering who was instrumental in our space race and communication satellites giving instantaneous coverage around the globe.
