DO NOT SAY I AM ONLY A DRY TREE
Video link: https://youtu.be/Zg4AGUkGGic
Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this study of the wonderfully Prophetic and instructive Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. The Lord will bless you for sharing. The featured picture today is of a beautiful Brick Meeting House in Readfield, Maine. This Church is just a few hundred feet from where I lived as a kid and they used to pay me $5.00 a month to wind the clock once a week.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 56:1-5 (KJV)
1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
Today I will be moving forward into the third verse and the Lord’s rebuke of deprecating speech. I believe this is a far more serious issue then many of us realize or believe. First, let’s look at the third verse of our text in the NIV translation.
Isaiah 56:3 (NIV)
3 Let no foreigner who has bound himself to the LORD say, “The LORD will surely exclude me from his people.” And let not any eunuch complain, “I am only a dry tree.”
Any person who will turn their heart to love and serve the Lord He will receive and is no respecter of persons. They do not go into a special category before Him, they are fully accepted as sons of God.
Galatians 3:27-29 (KJV)
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
As a quick aside, in Christ, God does not see any difference between a male or female Pastor, one is not excluded and the other accepted. We see in this passage that the Jew does not have a higher status than the Greek (Gentile) in Christ Jesus.
Romans 11:17-21 (KJV)
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
We see here that Jew and Gentile alike are grafted into the same root. This has always been so. One more example as we end for the week.
Exodus 12:37-39 (KJV)
37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual.
The term “mixed multitude” is referring to those who were Jews, Israelites, and some number of other ethnic groups.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
