Greetings Precious saints of God, brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this instructive study of 1st John. The Lord is so good.
James 1:13-17 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Let us get this down inside of us, God is good, the problems in our finances, our bodies, and so on is not authored by God, nor the devil, we ourselves are the author by the thoughts of our mind and the words of our mouth. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
1 John 3:1-3 (KJV)
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
We will be continuing with the first verse of this third chapter of 1st John focusing in on love (agapē) initially. One cannot overdo talking about this love, God level love, which has been shed abroad in our minds and is a fruit of our spirit man.
Romans 5:5 (KJV)
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
In this case the word “hearts” is referring to the soul of which the mind is a part. It is telling that a knowledge of Gods’ love has been given to us, taught of the Holy Spirit. This is how we come to have revelation of how to live this same love out in our lives which is by emulating God, our Heavenly Father. As a reminder this love is doing the Scripture, living a selfless lifestyle, and living Blood Covenant. Becoming a son of God was not a unilateral action by God or us, we both had to obey Scripture. Yes, God obeys Scripture, it is the way He lives and moves and we are to do the same. When we obeyed (did) the Scripture then God did the Scripture and we were saved, made sons of God.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
John 1:12 (KJV)
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
