SERVE AND LOVE
Video link: https://youtu.be/VjJcOegXHDg
Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this study of the wonderfully Prophetic and instructive Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. The Lord will bless you for sharing. The featured picture today is of the Old Rock Baptist Church in Somerset, Texas. I also want to take a moment here to encourage all of us to intercede for all those around us including those of authority in our lives, our nation.
Ephesians 6:18 (KJV)
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Intercessory prayer is a wonderfully powerful tool and is in fact a part of the Armor of God. We need people interceding for us and we need to intercede for others. The one interceding stands in the gap between the person and God. Can extend mercy and even delay catastrophe for a season.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 56:5-8 (KJV)
5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
8 The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
Now, let’s pick up with the fifth verse of our primary Bible text. Everyone from the time of Adam to this very day and for eternity were and are redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb. Just as He (Jesus) was given a name above all names forever so have we, His name, in Him we received His name, a name above all names forever. The Lord through His Prophet Isaiah now shifts from the eunuch to the stranger. Let’s look at verse six in the NIV translation for this is a Truth for all people for all time.
Isaiah 56:6 (NIV)
6 And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to serve him, to love the name of the LORD, and to worship him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant—
Look at the term “bind themselves to the LORD”. The idea or image imparted is two people tied together, neither is independent of the other. To serve someone is to honor them, to highly value them. Notice they are to love the name of the LORD. They are to worship which is total submission to the will of the Lord. Now, we see this thing about the Sabbath again, perhaps this is more important than we are being taught. I’m not talking about just showing up at Church but that whole 24-hour period and how we present to the House of God, the people of God, and the men and women of God placed over us. And, finally the stranger (you and me) is to hold very tightly to the Blood Covenant and all it provides. Am I doing this, are you? Consider this Promise from the Book of Job. Isn’t this at least in part what is being said in Isaiah 56:6? Honoring and obeying God and His representatives is big with God.
Job 36:11-12 (KJV)
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
Obeying is Godly love and serving is Godly honor. Which side of that coin do you want to be on, which side are you on? The following is a very similar passage.
Isaiah 1:18-20 (KJV)
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, the Lord is good, nothing but good, He does not slap His children around to see if they will remain loyal.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
