HINDERING GOD – PART THREE

Greetings dear partners and friends of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. Our God is so very good. Welcome to this ongoing Saturday series titled “Traditions, Lies, and Truth” where I seek to illuminate what will bring and maintain the curse in our lives and what will bring and maintain the blessing in our lives. Come on, you can do it, this is not hard nor time consuming and you will be increasing the reach of the good news. The topic for this series today and the next two weeks is the question; is it possible to hinder God. Another question might be as to whether it is possible to stop the plan of God. Now let’s get into our topic.
As you will recall, last Saturday I left off talking about how Moses and the Children of Israel hindered the plan of God. I will pick that account up by retracing part of the lesson from last week. God had told Abram that his seed (children of Israel) were going into bondage but would come out in the fourth generation, in four hundred years. However, as we will see they don’t come out for four hundred and thirty and it is an additional forty years before entering the Promised Land, a total delay of seventy years. Also, God told the Abram the parameters or borders of the land they were to occupy on coming out of bondage.
Genesis 15:18-21 (KJV)
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
They have never occupied all of this land even to this day. The Church has never occupied all of its Promised Land either. In the end the answers are always the same, unbelief. So why the delay for the Children of Israel in occupying the Land? Listen to their answer, a pitiful reasoning. What are our pathetic reasons?
Joshua 17:13-18 (KJV)
13 Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.
14 And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
15 And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
16 And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
17 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
18 But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
Now hear Joshua’s answer.
Joshua 18:3 (KJV)
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you? (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
They were commanded to drive out the inhabitants of the land entirely, 100% but they did not. Have we been slack? Have we driven the curse out of our lives or are we nursing the curse due to traditions and doctrines of demons and not walking in the fulness of blessing promised, secured at Calvary?
Exodus 23:31-33 (KJV)
31 And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.
32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.
33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.
They reasoned that it was not to their advantage to drive them out. Let me be clear, disobedience to God is never a wise course of action and never works to our advantage. Focus on the word ‘never’! Synonyms of ‘never’ include; not ever, not once, on no occasion, at no time, under no circumstances, by no means, in no way, not at all, and for no reason.

13 Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.
Let us now ask ourselves a question. Have we driven all of our enemies out of our lives or are we ensnared and serving their gods?
