UNDER HIS FEET – UNDER OUR FEET
Friday – July 28, 2017

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from The Three Minute Word publications. Welcome back to our Bible Study taken from the wonderful Book of Hebrews. It is Friday and time to be reminded to pray (decree) for the body of Christ according to promises of God. Now to our primary text.
Hebrews 2:7-9 (KJV)
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
I have been dealing with the preceding passage, and the passage from which it is quoted (Psalm 8) repeatedly. I have been making the point that not only are all things under His feet but all things are under our feet. This of course does not mean freedom from battles but it does mean freedom from defeats. Listen to what this ancient Chinese General Sun Tzu said in his treatise on “The Art of War”. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
This is also very true for the spiritual wars we wage we must know who we are in Him and we must know who our real enemy is and his tactics. Now I will return to our secondary text.
1 Corinthians 15:22-28 (KJV)
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Yesterday we dealt with verse twenty-four and today let’s take a moment to deal with verse twenty-five then we will move on to another text which describes this victory obtained by Christ. This verse tells us that He, Christ, must reign until all enemies are under His feet (which is also under our feet). We know from our study yesterday that this is finally accomplished as described in Revelation Twenty. The next verse, 1 Corinthians 15:26 talks about the destruction of the last enemy, death, however when this occurs depends who you are. For us the Church that destruction of death occurs at the Catching Away (commonly called the Rapture) and the Resurrection (uniting of the spirit and soul with a glorified resurrection uncorrupted body) of the physically dead Christians whose spirit and souls had gone on to Heaven. Now let’s turn our attention to another wonderful passage of Scripture that tells us how the work of Christ has put all things under His feet and under our feet for the glory of God.
Ephesians 1:16-23 (KJV)
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
As you will recall especially if you were studying with us when we covered the Book of Ephesians in some detail, the book of Ephesians is a letter to the saints and faithful in Christ Jesus at Ephesus. This particular passage is a prayer for them, the saints (all saved persons) and the faithful in Christ Jesus (a subset of saints) to move forward, mature in the things of God. The Apostle Paul wants them to have “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him”. Please notice that the center point here is the knowledge not the wisdom and revelation.
The more knowledge the higher the level of wisdom and revelation that is available to a person by the teaching of the Holy Spirit. Paul wanted their spiritual eyes and ours wide open and understanding who we are and what He has provided. He, the Apostle Paul, refers to the fact that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and restored Him to the right Hand of God as God is the same power with us, in us, and at our disposal. When Jesus was raised, and we with Him, He and we were placed: “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:” (Verse 21) Everything was placed under Christ Jesus and He was given to be the Head (in Heaven) of the Church which is His body (in the earth). The Church is the vehicle which makes Christ visible. Take a look at this last verse in the Message Translation.
Ephesians 1:23 (MSG)
23 The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.
Let me remind us all of one crucial fact which is that the Word of God must come forth with power in all the world before the end can come. The word ‘witness’ signifies the power part in the following verse. The witness is God confirming His Word with signs and wonders, various miracles, and manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 24:14 (KJV)
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
