WHOSE LEAF FADETH
Greetings dear friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries International, Inc. and The Three Minute Word blog. Welcome back to our powerful study of the wonderful prophetic and Messianic Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach. The Lord is so good dear ones to give us His Word so that we don’t need to walk around in a fog, except by our own choice. Except for new borns we are ignorant by choice what Scripture calls willingly ignorant (2 Peter 3:5). There is a coming judgment, a coming fire, and all of this natural world will be destroyed completely, only those things done for the Kingdom will stand.
2 Peter 3:10-11 (KJV)
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, (Bold added)
The things of this natural world are for our present enjoyment and are tools for the Kingdom, but they are but a sorry image of the glory to come. Dear ones there is only one body of Truth and that is the Holy Word of God, what we call the Holy Bible. There is no other Truth, period. Please understand that each of us individually must study the Word of God for ourselves. (bold added)
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Yes, go to Church, yes, listen to others, watch even imitate the lives of others, but never ever fail to prove everything by the Word of God. Not what someone told you it meant. Everything must go through the filter of the whole counsel of Scripture and not a selective filter to seemingly prove or establish our favorite traditions and false doctrine. This proving of Scripture takes considerable effort on a daily basis. We must rightly divide the Word of God. Then and only then can we hope to bring the promises of God into our lives.
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (Bold added)
Now, let’s turn our attention back to our Isaiah text and continue to read aloud. You have been reading out loud, right? Faith does not come by looking and it is impossible to please God without faith.
Isaiah 1:28-31 (KJV)
28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
We have discussed verse twenty-eight at some length and I pointed out that these are not necessarily all lost people, they may be saved but deeply deceived. There are consequences for the deceptions we accept into our lives but God is so loving, so merciful and we come on through to Heaven albeit with the smell of smoke on our garments.
Jude 1:21-23 (KJV)
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Looking back at our Isaiah text, I for one do not want to end up in Heaven ashamed for my leaves are withered and faded, I want my leaves to be vibrantly healthy. The keys to avoiding faded leaves and shame are found in Psalm one, and 2 Timothy 2:15. All of the wrong choices we made being slothful will be burned with unquenchable fire and we will suffer loss.
1 Corinthians 3:14-15 (KJV)
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Lord willing, I will pick up with Isaiah chapter two tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
